I was going to make a thread out of this but this topic is too sensitive for an immature space.
Black hair, who hates their more, black men or women?
Black men and women love their hair. I think the myth of black women hating their hair is a misunderstanding. Women like to change their look up and having the ability to throw on a wig, weave, straighten, or color their hair is just them doing what all women do. It's not exclusive to black women. Girls from other ethnic groups alter the color, length, and texture of their hair. They wear wigs and weaves too. They do it for style and fashion reasons.
Black men love their hair more than they do a lot of people. Pusha T said it best, "the power is in my hair nikka!"
I'd argue black people love their appearances more than other ethnic groups. We love being black, everything thing about it. To be a proud black person is to embrace how you look.
Self-hate in our community is exaggerated. As a kid I remember the worst thing to be called was white. I didn't even know why, but I knew if someone called a black kid that a fight was going to happen. We naturally reject white culture.
