There’s plenty of stuff I want and can’t afford. It is what it is. There’s plenty of stuff I want and am unwilling to spend the money on. I just wait for a sale. I’m not entitled to any consumer good and if I want something I either make it happen or get over the fact I can’t afford it.

Nintendo’s price is not unreasonable at all here. It’s $150 more than the Switch and you’re getting a much better product. I feel it’s a very fair value for what you’re getting.

I’d love a Rivian. I ain’t spending $70K and up on a vehicle. You won’t see me online yelling drop the price and harassing normal employees on a stream. I just bought a car I could afford.

I’m gonna lose my shyt if I pay $70 for this and the main story is 5 hours long like people in Gamefaqs are saying. People saying full playthroughs of the game are live on YouTube with no skipped cutscenes and they like 5 hours.

Like I said Sony is above criticism for some of you. You'll always come back to how to defend what they do. Many of yall showed your true colors when Sony went from "we believe in generations" to the PS4 gamers will get games that were supposed to only be for the newer generation.

There is no good argument for $70 games other than greed. Video game prices standardized a long time ago. It doesn't matter what was paid back in the 90s.
Because they raised the price of games it's directly responsible for me passing on games I otherwise would have bought already. I skipped games like Spiderman MM and Returnal that normally I'd have bought and I won't be buying them until they're dirt cheap. If that means I'm waiting 6-7 months or even 12 so be it. This crap basically came from Take Two's greedy ass jacking the price up of that DLC factory NBA 2K knowing damn well they likely make drastically more selling overpriced DLC than the do selling the game and selling the DLC is more lucrative because the return on investment is probably at least 10x the cost to make said DLC.


This isn't just about Sony having $70 screw all these companies that do that then have the nerve to want you to buy and DLC, or season passes. If you gonna sell me a $70 game then sell me the whole damn game. We all know that won't happen.

All these games should cost more arguments are just corporate apologism.

Expect Sony is the only hardware maker doing this. Nintendo not Microsoft their direct competition haven't raised the prices of their games. Third party publishers have to give hardware manufacturers a chunk of their game sales just to have games on Sony's platform. Even still I'd argue third party publishers don't need to do this either because they excessively monetize their games with crap like loot boxes and other micro transactions. Companies like Activision make drastically more on DLC and add on content than they do selling games. Hell Ubisoft is exploring going almost completely free to play in the future because it's likely more lucrative for them to give games away and overcharge on DLC and microtransactions.

These are the same companies that in 4 or so months the game is selling for 30% less than the new retail price.

Not interested in running out and paying 16.5% over the old retail price off some hype culture pricing when they're more than ok selling the game for way less as they show when several months pass and they drastically cut the price.

The pricing of games is just another way this industry exploits their customers. The same way they build gambling mechanics into their rated for everyone games and lure children to spend their parents money off credit cards and or lure gambling addicts into spending loads of money from their addiction off predatory practices and nobody in the industry says jack shyt.

Pointing at third party publishers like they're some bastion of light ain't it man.

Threads like this is what indoctrination looks like. This is at the level of red state republicans voting against their own best interest because they're so indoctrinated to the republican party it's not even a thought process anymore. They're handed their beliefs by that party.

People really think others are jealous of their chosen piece of plastic, something that by the way there are no restrictions on anyone buying or not buying, that they're defending paying more for really the same or even less of a product built on a pre-made engine that scales to the hardware. These companies for the most part aren't building new engines for newer hardware. They're using the Unreal Engine or the same engine they used last generation.

These companies are bullies. They'll take your lunch money because you'll let them not because they deserve it. The moment gamers stand up to their BS business practices they always back down. We really need to stop buying into video game hype culture non-sense. They get you in a tizzy teasing and stimulating you with all this controlled information they leak out. They get their influencers to do it and you run out and pay $70 for the game day one. 8-12 months later somebody is getting that same game for $50-$60 with all the DLC included on the disc. The game is less broken when they buy it due to the fact that day one it was still being worked on and they get all the bonuses you had to pay extra for.

When games went to $70 I cut back my consumption of them. For most games these days I get them a year or two later. Just bought Octopath Traveler 2 for $22 off Woot. Pretty sure I waited a couple years to buy BG3 for example.

I don’t feel I’m entitled to any consumer product and they can price stuff at whatever they want. If it’s not a value to me not buying it and moving on.

So the people complaining about it are listing the bill of goods and how much it cost to produce the item and how Nintendo it taking too much of a profit on it?

There are other devices like the ROG, like the Steam Deck that provide similar functionality and are in that ball park price range it’s not unreasonable and if your determination of it being reasonable is simply I’m willing to pay X and it cost more or it cost more than the last product they released you the one being unreasonable.

You seem to confuse having an opinion on something and what I said in my original post about them going on a treehouse stream that had nothing to do with that and causing a disturbance for the employees and people on stream there to see the product as the same thing.
