I’d just rather watch on TV. I don’t really like going to live sporting events if I can get a quality broadcast from home.

In wrestling, I’d be much more likely to purchase a ticket for a house show than TV taping for that very reason.

I haven’t even been to my college alma mater to watch a game in years despite it being only a 10-ish minute drive and regular season games being free admission because they got a good quality broadcast.

Exact reason why I say AEW needs to book legit matches for dark matches instead of the junk they give. Give fans something to look forward to that they aren’t going to get on TV, might draw in some that say “I’ll just watch it for free on tv.”

I've always loved wrestling on TV, but taking my girl to see a live show (Revolution 2022) totally changed the way she saw it - lost her voice for 2 days and she's been obsessed ever since. We go to see live shows big or small whenever we can now.

Was a total fluke too - we just happened to be landing in FL to visit family the day before.

This dude must be a Coli poster lol but he's 100% right here. The only reason why people are hating on Mercedes is because she's a black woman and because she left the company, she hasn't even said anything negative about WWE either.... shyts wild Lol

I'm pretty sure he is trying to make a point but he stuttering too much for me :scust:

Brand Awareness 101. I think it was Mercedes who touched on AEW "focusing on them and doing their own thing" instead of focusing on whatever the competition is doing and that is ultimately what AEW's goal should always be moving forward even if they get these new TV deals.

People can't expect a company that's been around for 5 years to compete with a company that's been around for 60+ years, it goes back to brand awareness. That is built over time. Brands aren't built and recognizable within a few years. Just because Tony Khan is a billionaire means nothing. You can buy talent but you can't build brand awareness just by having that talent on payroll.

It's the history of favorable memories that maintains an audience and builds loyal supporters. In the 2010's and beyond people complained and complained about WWE but they would say "Remember when WWE was like this....." because they have a brand awareness and loyal support who are willing to check out what they are doing regardless of whether the current product is good or not.

The best way to compete is to worry about yourself and differentiate yourself. If you are going to be WWE Lite, you are capping yourself at a small market share of consumers. There's only so much wrestling a casual viewer is going to consume.

I don't think a completely different product is their answer, it has to be somewhat like WWE in the sense of pushing big personalities and having a great production team but the stories themselves and in-ring action is where they can separate.

This is all true but AEW did a lot of self-sabotaging between 2022-2023. They were competing very well until Vince stepped down and almost overnight WWE turned it around along with the Punk drama. If none of that happened we'd be speaking differently about AEW for sure.

It's both. Some WWE fans hate her because she left and got paid. Some AEW fans hate her because she isn't "one of them..." but that's why it was smart to turn her heel very quickly. She's at her best when she's allowed to shyt on the marks...

They will hate her but they will end up appreciating the heel work and matches. End of the day, marks don't stay mad forever. Bryan Danielson told everyone years ago, fans are fickle.

Some of the people who dikkride Roman now are the people who were sending him death threats. There's normal fans shootin the shyt and then there's the neckbeards who are followers... whatever is hot, they'll follow.

Look at Cody, same thing. Somehow he is the ultimate babyface after years of people either not caring about him in WWE or turning on him in AEW..

They started booking 'Dynamite' like it was just any other show on TV... like it didn't matter much... they were coasting along and they had some bad creative ideas too and it cost them.

Because while they were coasting along, WWE finally put themselves in a position that felt fresh and new. All of a sudden 'Dynamite' got boring and 'Smackdown!' was the fresh new thing that was must see TV..

Some people in this thread told me "actually 2019 Dynamite wasn't any good..." and I disagree because while the roster wasn't nearly as stacked, I felt like the 'Crash TV' elements AEW brought in at the time were fresh and exciting, you couldn't get that on Mondays anymore...

AEW has never found the balance where they make the TV shows feel special but also save some things for PPV.... It's always either feast or famine.

I live in Houston so this popped up on my timeline. Anthony Bowens is participating in this flabby and sick ass homerun derby :mjlol:

Ric Flair supposed to be there too :dead:
