Agree that jericho has fallen off and needs to retire or cut his time down. shyt hasn't been the same for him. I just wanna hear him come out to Judas for his last match if there is one. That's when he was most over with the crowd. He had fans singing along not to mention having the cruise and a popular podcast. I may check out that Shelton episode since someone mentioned it but i haven't heard an episode in years. The fans stopped caring about jericho like that. He changed to this other entrance theme and ruined things even more.

I think Jericho's contract is up sometime at the end of the year. Regardless after their respective storylines are done, they both need a long break.

@Straw Hat Luffy said it best, part of the formula for Jericho's constant "reinvention" was that dude took long hiatuses inbetween runs.

How or why he expected the fans to just go along with an uninterrupted 6 year run when he's past his prime as a ring performer -and therefore he can't mask whatever weakness his new character(s) might have- I have no clue.

At this point it feels his ego wont let him go away because he's one of AEW's founders, so to speak, and feels some type of obligation to be there. I think it would be as simple as him continuing to be associated with the company in a backstage role. Hell, why not give him a shot as booker for 6 months to see what's he's got. Anything to keep him away from TV for a long time.

A complaint or rather a confusing thought i had from last night, since it's unrelated to the episode so i figured I'd bring it here is in regards to Dynasty.

Why go to the liacouras center? Last year mania weekend they had roh supercard of honor there. Per wrestletix it was setup for 2900, not sure what final count was but i see the last update saying around 2600. Of course that was lower deck only. I went and remember seeing only the lower one open. Of course that's not saying much cuz per wiki, it's a 10k capacity arena. Now not saying they should've been at wells fargo but not sure how much of a crowd they can fit in there with the small size plus taking away space for the stage.

I wouldn't put dynasty up there as far as ppv rankings go. Might be the least important, maybe c tier one, tho the ppv are usually good no matter the tier. Of course there's only been one dynasty so hasn't built up much rapport yet.

But i just think they could've chose a better venue for a ppv event. Philly is a major city and in that northeast hub with lots of people around it. I think they will get a sell out since ppv tend to do well but a bigger location would've been better.

@Tres Leches aren't you up there in Philly? Isn't there something between this arena and wells fargo that they could've used instead?

I don’t mind Mox being one of the top guys year in and year out. Roman and Seth never stepped down from the top spotlight. Guys like Okada and Tanahashi was the main focus forever in new Japan.

It just really boils down to creative being shytty.
Pre 2022 Seth spent the majority of the time as a very divisive top guy (or at the very least, a flop as one). He even got booed and got matches hijacked. Same thing with Roman. Plus with Reigns you got him becoming a part time world champ for literal years so he wouldn't become stale.

It is true that Mox would be welcomed more if he could figure out a way to get interesting feuds going thanks to creative. But he doesn't need the top belt to get those. And he's constantly pushing for the top belt anyways so it ain't as easy with him.

Tanahashi was the main focus of New Japan for 8 years, Okada for 10-12. But both of those guys were waaay bigger draws for New Japan than Mox for AEW. Mox hasn't lifted his promotion from the brink of irrelevancy nor has he elevated it to heights not seen in years...Omega is the one that's done that and the wrestler one could make a case for "always being in the main event". Funnily enough, Kenny has been way more passive and absent from top programs in the past 4 years than Mox, lol.

They've always gone to Liacouras when they've put on shows in Philly. Guessing the cost of renting it is cheaper than what renting Wells Fargo during Sixers/ Flyers season would be (Flyers on the road that weekend and Sixers go on the road after a home game on the 5th).

If Ricky gets pushed in WWE and is a star, AEW should poach Carmelo and use HHH “inclinations” against him. As long as WWE has a racist at head of creative, he’s gonna have a blind spot

I think Melo has a high ceiling in WWE lowkey lol

I never understood the outrage on his position. They’re getting him over as a character to the masses and it’s working. My brother getting reactions weekly. Hes overcome the crickets.

If I could swap jerseys and send someone to AEW to thrive it would be Finn.. and Finn is doing fine in WWE but in AEW he could be Kenny Omega main character status

I think what we’re missing when it comes to Jericho is the fact that he’s one of the highest paid people in AEW. Money talks man. If I was making millions to be on tv, I probably wouldn’t give a fukk about some tweets and neckbeard chants either. I’d be jaded by the bread. Ain’t no amount of tweets forcing me to walk away from some bread

I think it would take Tony deciding to stop using bro for him to bow out

Idk man, maybe him getting older made him more about the money but we are talking about a guy that went away from a big WWE check to put some real time (years, in fact) and effort to his indy rock band. And he did that shyt for a long time. I think you are projecting you own actions onto Jericho :lolbron:

shyt, I wouldn't give two fukks about what people said online about me if I'd be making that kind of bread. But at that point of my career I'd be going home to my wife and rest until I grow old. But I'm not Jericho and that has nothing to do with the argument we are having right now, it's a completely different discussion :heh:

how would Ricky get pushed in the first place then? He's black

Because he came from AEW and has a top guy in his corner, Carmelo doesn’t. Like Ibou said, WWE is setting a honeypot out for AEW wrestlers to jump, so at first Ricky would get shine.
