Doesn’t make sense at all lmao.

I was saying to you before that if they remained in the top 5 on their night that they'd get a new media rights deal. Networks need content and as cord cutting continues, streamers need content. Another way to look at it, the NBA has been losing viewership for years and they just tripled their previous media rights deal. That's the landscape for live programming

Skipped around and at one point Dave said, "I believe so" "I assume" "I presume" "I expect" "probably" within an approximately 15 second period all to say he'll have to verify later. Just say that at the beginning. Dave the thesaurus of bullshytting.

Curious about what Dave thinks the significance of it being the second most profitable deal in pro wrestling history. Obviously, he's disincentivized to contextualize that since he's on party time right now.

Good for all the wrestlers. Hopefully they get raises commensurate with the increase or at least increased negotiating power, even if I think the majority of them in AEW and WWE are bums.

It's a shot at Bischoff. He just didn't want to give him more air time. AEW right now is more profitable than WCW since even with WCW "winning the war" for however many weeks it was, they only ended up with one profitable year out of all of that because of how much money they were spending on talent and production. Plus, TV rights back then weren't what they are now. Most of the revenue came from ticket sales and PPV buys (some merchandising but WCW never quite capitalized on that like WWE did).

Jim Crockett meanwhile had years in the 80s where JCP was profitable.

Doesn’t make sense at all lmao. It’s crazy we’re ignoring what our eyes are seeing to believe any of this. One thing for certain is that dirtsheets don’t have any info whatsoever.

SRS, Meltzer, etc. are good in the wrestling bubble with their double talk about backstage news and contracts, but completely out of their element when it comes to TV rights or anything that involves the actual business side. For business news, it's best to completely ignore anyone involved in pro wrestling and look for news coming from outlets that cover media rights in sports/entertainment regularly. The level of people that are involved in TV rights negotiations don't talk to Sean Ross Sapp or Dave fukking Meltzer or anyone that's 2-3 degrees close to them.

The major business news in pro wrestling this year wasn't broken by the sheets, but by Variety (Netflix/RAW deal), Wall Street Journal (McMahon depravity), and CNBC (AEW's TV deal with WBD).

Bischoff has to be really salty about this news. Pretty crazy that Dynamite is going to have a longer run than Nitro did.
