I still don't think anyone understands the reason for this title...they've never explained it and nobody cares about it

It's like they forgot what tournaments are as soon as it ended. Kingston had to top a league and then win two matches on the bounce to win that thing.

You don't see ZSJ having to defend his G1 Trophy, it should be the same. You win it, you're champ until the next tourney.

It'd be like FIFA making Argentina put their World Cup on the line in every match for the next four years - why even go through the pain of winning 7 matches in a row if someone can come and win it in a single night a month later

The top prize for a tournament of that level shouldn't be for a midcard belt or a triple crown for midcard belts but for a world title shot like how every Japanese company that does this type of tournament does it.

And Eddie literally lost the Continental title and all the other titles as part of the triple crown on single nights within a span 4.5 months.

I'm not complaining about it, but the stipulation is stupid. We know the match is going over 20 minutes now because Danielson's not winning that belt, and we know Okada's not winning the heavyweight title. It's a stupid way to try and protect both guys with stipulations. I'd rather have a Dusty finish if they wanted to go that route.

Is the 20 min stip to essentially give Okada a World Title eliminator match for the first 20 mins?

If you survive 20 mins in an Eliminator, you get a title match.

If they wanted to run Okada/Danielson, they could've just left Okada's belt out of it. I bet they'll still have some outside interference since the rules change after 20 minutes. Or Okada loses clean after 20 minutes.

Bryan has been a shell of himself for a while, He honestly needs to go away. Had been craving the Okada match for years and neither lived up to the hype imo.

HBK and Sting never fell off/Never lost "it" during their return runs while I feel like Bryan has been a shell of himself since after his first year in AEW.

I know you feel that way but I just flat out disagree with that notion. The run he's had since the strap match with Ricky Starks up to the All In match with Swerve is one of the best match quality runs I've ever seen. He did it with different styles, with a bunch of different opponents and in different promotions in the U.S, Japan and México this was some Terry Funk in 89' on a larger scale and for a longer period of time.

And maybe Mox wants to do the favors for Bryan before he does go away, He has to know that he owes him for taking a backseat to him the past two years when Bryan is the clear bigger star.

My guess that both in 2022 and 2024 shyt went like this.

Tony: So, uh, what do you guys wanna do about this match?

Mox: I mean, Dragon never wins so I think he should go over.

Danielson: No Mox, you are the one that's gonna be here longer so you take the belt.
