I was gonna look up playing this on PC but my hype's died down due to looking at spoilers on ResetEra. There's things about the story I don't like, such as
no actual Triforce. Malice being retconned as Gloom. Don't change the name! Zonai not being as mysterious anymore. However them being the new origins of the royal family which is where Zelda actually gets her powers from and not because she's a reincarnation or descendant of Hylia doesn't bother me either, it's really the fact that they hyped us up to buy Skyward Sword as if it had ties to this game which it really doesn't. Nintendo said fukk Hylia, fukk Demise and fukk a Loftwing we just gonna retcon some shyt and if you bought Skyward Sword thinking we continued the story then haha jokes on you. What they did actually take from Skyward Sword was the sky islands, ability wheel, stamina bar and bomb flowers. Oh yeah Fi in here too but not referred to by name.

I don't know man. This shyt got me a lil aggy, kinda mad I bought Skyward Sword. I didn't really play it anyway.

Aight I'm done complaining. I'm still excited about the game. I'm so excited I looked into streaming the game. However after enough research, I didn't see a setup that would allow me to stream and still use my bluetooth headphones. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

I don't care about the reviews this time around. BOTW has shown me people haven't figured out that weapon degradation is the same as playing a first person shooter whose weapons run out of ammo then you gotta switch weapons and/or find another. It's the same got damn system but people are stupid. It's really funny though. OMG my tree branch broke! fukk this game 6/10.

While I get your comparison here and actually didn't mind weapon breaking in the game for the most part, it's not stupid at all for folks to not like that aspect. Especially considering that in practically all similar game that have weapons, melee types either don't break at all or are easily repairable if they do (a la Souls games), so it's easier and more reliable to have a favored weapon and keep them, rather than just get copies of said weapon. This also diminishes weapons feeling/being special as well (along with some other things).

Nah these the type of games that will be worth cash when my kids get in their 20s.

Plus don't u have to link accounts? I don't like sharing my account with the digital stuff
Doubtful, cuz it's not like this game is going to be a rare find or anything.

You don't like sharing your games with your kids, lol? Yeah, you link the accounts, but they can have their own profiles and you can obviously protect your account from them being able to purchase on it without your acknowledgement.

People really bytched about breakable weapons in BotW as if you didn't get more weapons than slots to keep them as early as in the Great Plateau. :snoop:

With that said... Just finished the first... major point, let's put it that way to avoid spoilers.

The thing about the story is that like, it retcons so much shyt for no reason. Skyward Sword got straight up dunked on this game. Canonically, the First King of Hyrule is fukkin LINK. He was out there smashing Zelda. We all know it.
Rauru stole his wife and his cred on some
MJ_Grin_Pawg_lit.gif

And he put statues of both of them in all the shrines too, mad disrespectful. :mjlol:

Gameplay-wise... The Zonai devices and the new abilities are like when KD joined the Warriors. They really dialed the fukkery up to 11.

On the other hand, it sucks that some devices clearly have weapons and shields that they should be stuck on and not the rest. The Flame Emitter is straight up impossible to aim on anything but a spear or a shield. The Wing does NOTHING on a shield. Hell, the Wing in general hardly even functions from the look of it. I can't really get it to take off outside of its specific runways and they always have Wings on those. Wing capsule is out there looking like a bust.

The biggest problem BotW had was NOT fixed. The Wind Temple might as well be a Divine Beast. The way up to it was cool, but too damn long. It's an improvement because there are actual enemies in the Temple, but it's a disservice compared to the old games. Boss was alright, but these were never Zelda's strongest point anyway, shoutouts to all the Water Temples.
Spectacular presentation tho.

The discussion of this game playing too safe is fair, BotW straight up broke everything we expected out of a Zelda game and did unthinkable things at the time.

This one improves on a lot of things, but I don't think it does enough on the ones that were actually problematic in the original. It might be too early to say, but I'm not quite convinced yet.

Btw, what's the best emulator to run it rn? Ryujinx keeps crashing.

Agreed.

Yuzu is crashing often for me as well. I'm playing on deck tho, so maybe it's more cuz it's not quite powerful enough? Tho I'm hearing others are having good success on deck. Ionno. I'm fairly new to this shyt, especially on deck and the tell ya, the headaces of it are exactly why I don't get too heavy into it or PC gaming in general.

This is a crazy statement considering the Steam Deck is WAY more powerful than the Switch. I think its more so the emulation technology isn't there to have this game running well, so a software issue rather than a hardware one.

Pretty much. Emulators take a minute to nail the adjustments.

Good PC ports usually run straight out of the box with default settings like a console, but that's obviously not the case here. :mjlol:

I might unironically have to upgrade tho. The more I look at it, the more I feel it's my old CPU not holding up. I might test BotW on the same setup and see how it runs since it's pretty much the closest thing to TotK but emulators are optimized for it. :mjcry:

Well, the deck is obviously strong enough to run any switch game better than the switch, but that's only if it was made specifically for the Deck as well or at least a worthwhile port. With how emulation works, from my understanding, it can be a lot more taxing on any pc type device, so in order to do more current gen levels of emulation, you need a significantly stronger pc specs and whatnot than what system is being emulated.

Some days I wonder why don't I just get a full fledged PC instead of half stepping by buying the SD - then I remember that I wanted to buy a new car (did that a couple weeks ago!) and buy a new furnace/AC and then I go right back to playing the SD :mjlol:

I also only have limited knowledge with how emulation works, but I believe this makes sense. Obviously the Steam Deck can run BOTW decently NOW - but it took some time to get there. Like @Volt mentioned, it'll take some time for emulation to catch up. Seeing how fast they've pushed out updates to help get it working is promising though.

Could've just bought one digital copy and shared, lol smh.
No. Only one person can play a digital copy at a time.

I think that's how it works. I'd have to check again. We have a couple digital games and if we loaded them up on our 2 switches at the same time, it said something along the lines of "game is already in use on another system" . He'd have to purchase it 3 times under 3 different eshop accounts if I remember right.

I know for certain that it don't work this way on PlayStation and I could've sworn that it didn't on Switch either. If it does tho, then it doesn't surprise me that Nintendo would operate that way. I'll check it in a moment when I get home.

I could check right now, I'm just lazy. You let me know what you find. I may try later.
