man I wish I had a time machine and could skip forward a few weeks. I really wanna see how these actresses pull off making these characters seem legit scary.

The game did such a good job of showing the brutality of these two. You felt like Ellie was goddamn solid snake and Abby was the terminator. So when they finally meet it’s a…. “Oh shyt” moment. Especially since you play it from Abby’s perspective and you experience the ninja bullshyt first hand everybody else got when dealing with Ellie.

Really hoping it doesn’t come off as two children fighting each other. Especially now since Abby can’t easily over power her which is the whole theme of their fight and why Ellie doesn’t attack her head on.

In the game, Joel is out on patrol with Tommy, not Dina, they run into Abby during the storm/ infected like the show. Tommy then says Joels name and where they're from while saving Abby, she then alerts her crew.

that scene of Joel and Tommy saying their names to complete strangers is where you knew the writers really fukked up with this game

100x better than the game. Abby isn’t an unlikable she hulk. Joel doesn’t give his name to a bunch of strangers. The WLF actually feel like people and don’t like watching Abby torturing Joel, except the Hispanic dude cracked a smile. Just phenomenal television. The battle for Jackson was way better than what D&D did with the battle of Winterfell.

Can’t wait for the rest of the season.

In the game, he never even found out who Abby was, she just fukking beath him to death - He never even knew why.

More heart wrenching in that version.

He kinda just came to terms with it in this version.

I loved both.
In the game I got the vibe that he’s killed hundreds so it really didn’t matter who it was and Joel expected a get back one day.

Nah, no one’s perfect, everyone slips up eventually. Makes them more human. After 35 plus years you’ll have a slip up. And no one expects their name to be what gets them killed.

Its so fukking refreshing to see the TV audience reacting to this like normal civilized people.

The gaming audience let this scene turn ANY discussion about this game into the most toxic online discourse I have EVER seen in all of media. Death threats to the director and writers.

They couldnt handle his death and went on to HATE Neil Druckmann.

TV audience, much more mature and smart. Handled it like regular people.

:francis:

I’m sorry, but I have to push back on your post
And I really hate to do it because of those toxic online media people that you’re talking about are racist Maga far right pieces of shyt … but with that said they do have a point

The narrative of this game before the leaks dropped was Ellie and Dina seem to get into a serious relationship and from outside militia, comes in and kills Dina, which makes Ellie in raged going across the country to get revenge, and as she is about to be killed by one of them Joe pops up and saves her life and says something to the fact of you didn’t think I would let you go alone … which winds up being another character who I won’t mention in this spoiler thread

At the end of the day, naughty dog did its fan base dirty because they advertise something that wasn’t part of their product which you cannot do, and I believe they even had to remove that particular scene from their commercial

It’s just like if you make a food product and advertise it, as healthy with low sugar and low cholesterol
while the product is high in sugar and high in cholesterol - u just can’t do that

There was another post but forgot to quote it. It basically said "idk how abby gonna be menacing with her being so tiny"
You can be menacing and shyt w/o being brolic. If you known for having a short fuse or being wild as hell if you "go there".
Like we dont know what happened to Abby in Seattle, but it's obvious the other crew scared of her. Especially when she told the other chick "do it who I will base her head in". When she said that, she didnt hesitant and drugged Dina, because she knew Abby would kill Dina.
Was the cordyceyp in the town's main line being cut gonna active all those Walkers anyways?

But I couldn't even tell what she was trying to do on that snow hill......cut em off by slowly climbing down?
I think the ones abby activated wouldve stayed dorment. It seemed like when the main line was cut, that activated a horde, then the horde that chased abby saw them running and joined with them.

Abby - looks like she saw Joel/Dina on horseback and was trying to go down to them for a closer look or something. Slipped and activated the zombies under the ground by accident.
Also, aren't they loosely aware of why getting Ellie to that operation table was Marlene's main objective? Surely Abby's dad filled her in.
Seek revenge for your dead daddy, but don't follow thru on what he died for brehs
fukk a cure for humanity as long as you got your lick back
How would they follow thru on that objective for the cure? Fireflies dont exist anymore according to Abby. They probably dont even have a doctor to perform that surgery or the scientists to make the cure.

With how slow she was initially climbing down and how big that hill was, no way she was gonna be able to get down there for closer look thru her scope….and damn sure wasn’t gonna be able to cut them off in time….as they were on horse back. Sloppy emotional decision.

How would they follow thru on that objective for the cure? Fireflies dont exist anymore according to Abby. They probably dont even have a doctor to perform that surgery or the scientists to make the cure.
5 years of being dedicated to seeking revenge, but nothing done to even build back up even a semblance of a medical / science team…..knowing that your dad was working on a possible cure

I mean I get it, revenge and destruction is a simpler objective but :mjlol:

Helps that this is on HBO (a generally smarter TV watching audience). I don’t think folks who watch A&E and all that reality tv would react the same way.

I’ll say this tho…gaming is a uniquely personal experience that creates these over the top responses especially if the person isn’t fully mentally developed.

It’s not fair to shyt on gamers for having a different response compared to people watching the show….

Gaming is completely different. In the game people spent dozens of hours, including multiple playthroughs playing AS a character. You get a different perspective and attachment to a character vs just watching a show. You basically become that character. So the response is going to be entirely different. I personally was ok with Joel dying, I thought it was a kinda cool twist. But I completely get why so many people flipped out.

I shouldn’t have to explain this :russ:

I liked the episode. I think it would have hit more as say the 4th Episode of the season. Or they had split this up and did the thing in the next episode. You know build a little more tension for Joel/Abby.
