Finished this shyt, 7/10

1st half with is a chore to play through Ellie, painfully tedious

It got semi interesting in the 2nd half with Abby & Lev. Both far more interesting characters & better pacing.

The ending was so trash, and the moral dilemmas it tries to present are trite and resolved with absolutely no nuance ‘ Must revenge Joel, at all costs! ‘ (even tho all the fukk ups were from...). Lowkey she was trying to get in Abby’s box as obsessed as she was.

I have no idea what the neckbeards got upset about tho, was it the gay relationship or the poor ending? I only played this to see what the fuss was about and left underwhelmed

If Naughty Dog put as much effort into innovating gameplay mechanics as they do everything else they’d be goats. As is tho, meh.
I won’t be crass and call it a well polished turd because that’d be unfair, but grading it against its apparent peers (specifically GoW & Sekiro, both games which balance gameplay, graphics and story at a high level) it flatters to deceive

All that said, I’d welcome an Abby & Lev spin-off or even Lev on his own. Away from the zombie shyt, retcon them into a different era

See I felt Abby should have offed Ellie Ellie & Joel are both self centred psychopaths yet only Joel got his just deserts. Abby was justified in her actions, Ellie gave me entitled Karen energy throughout

If I could have had Abby kill her during the boat fight I would lol

People getting angry about playing as Abby is very interesting because we've never seen discourse around "I don't want to spend time with and play as this character because he/she pissed me off".

Videogames aren't like movies or TV where you're always chaperoned from one character / scene to the next. You feel all the dread, anger, sadness, and successes the characters feel because they force you to live as them and stew as them, literally walking in their shoes. You're forced to assume attachment because you're invested in their survival through every gunfight or brawl. ND taking advantage of the videogame medium and emotionally manipulating the audience is a thorough ass move. I think most players felt discomfort having to play as Abby moments after she kills Jesse, but that's the whole point. At first you're thinking fukk this bytch, until you slowly get to understand her character.

Some people are over doing it imo. Like, I just saw someone who literally said they skipped every note, didn't explore and didn't upgrade anything as Abby because they hated her. They literally ruin the game for them.
