But Owen fukked her doggystyle tho :usure:

I dunno it just would make more sense why Abby had such a connection to Lev specifically. When Tara was explaining how Lev identified as a boy, and how the elders were forcing him to be a wife, it seemed as if Abby had a personal connection with how Lev felt. After the WLR killed Yara, Lev said “Those where your fukking people”, and Abby responded with “You’re my people.” It would seem as if there is something that Abby sees in Lev that reminds her of herself, and the only commonality is that Lev identifies as another gender.

maybe I’m reading to much in it. Maybe it’s because of just how muscular she was. Naughty dog didn’t have to make her THAT jacked, :russ:
I think you’re reading too much into it

Agreed tho Abbys arms are ridiculous lol

I think Ellie was enough. I think they just wanted to tell a revenge story from two points of view. Abby doesn't seem like she's there cause Ellie is too weak. She seems like she's there to give a face to the bad guys.

It doesn't feel like Neil started with Ellie is too weak lets make another female, now how can we tell a story about another female.

It feels more like they started with, lets tell a tale of revenge and show how the bad guys are the same as us, how can we do that.

Obviously I don't know that for a fact but the latter is the clear focus of the game so it makes sense to me.

When you play as Abby it feels like it's more about exposing your own motivations while humanizing the enemy than it has anything to do with playing with an even stronger female character. The story would've felt virtually the same and hit all the same main plot threads if Abby was a grown man.

It would've removed from the duality motif a little is all.
I can see the bold...

As for humanizing Abby, I did not feel that, if I had the option to spare her or kill her I would have killed her...Yes part of that has to do with Joel, but part of it also has to do with aside for Lev, she was a pretty shyttty irredeemable human being...

I want to elaborate on the option piece a bit, I think the option to kill or spare would have saved this game in the end from a story standpoint...Folk who felt they did enough to humanize Abby would have spared her and folk like me who could not forgive her wouldn't have been left with a disappointing no payoff blue balls ending...The Witcher franchise did something like this with 2 and 3...There is a character called Letho in 2 who is the main antagonist focus of the game...Geralt is basically out to kill him for revenge just like Eliie is Abby...You never play as Letho but he gets humanized throughout the story, you learn things about him on your journey like his motivation for doing what he did that may change your opinion of him...When you finally confront him at the end of the game, you are given a choice to kill him or spare him...If you choose to spare him he comes back in Witcher 3 to help you in a crucial quest...I think that way of telling this story would of been far more effective and rewarding for everyone than just throwing part 3 plot armor on Abby...Plus it would ensure fan favorite Ellie remains the focus of the franchise and polarizing Abby becomes optional depending on your choice...

That may be just me though...:yeshrug:

An option would've been cool. I think that would've actually been great. It may have been an issue for continuing in a 3rd game, but that would've been nice.

Humanizing or empathizing with Abby doesn't mean you had to like her, enjoy her, or agree with her. Just means you have to understand why she did what she did. Which most people seem to agree on.

Sympathy doesn't seem to factor. I think it's more about 'hey see this girl you love isn't so different from this girl you hate"

If their goal was to get you to like Abby, or sympathize with her then they def didn't pull that off. Just didn't feel like that was the intent to me.

My complaint though is what the fukk did Abby think Ellie was there to do? She obviously initially didn’t travel all the way there to just save them, so why did she think she could just walk away with no problems?

She thought she was headed to Catalina Island, I mean Abby told her where the boats were and the map Ellie found had Firefly locations on it. She knows Ellie lives in Jackson, so why would Ellie need a boat other than to go to the island? Also the title screen changes to Catalina Island at the end with Abby's boat empty.

The Last of Us Part II Interview with Neil Druckmann & Halley Gross | IndieWire

This interview explains the thought process behind some key moments. They didn't mention females, women, or strong the whole time.

Abby's plot arch was inspired by the character switch in the first game and them wanting you to empathize with a parallel revenge quest. They talk about why she spares Abby (which was basically what I've been saying in this thread).

They talk about why did she even go to Santa Barbara and how it's more about her mental health than Abby at that point, and that factors into her decision later. Which is also basically how I saw it.

I think people are seeing more than what's there to justify being upset tbh.

bro, can you put a fukking spoiler on this? some people haven't beaten the fukking game. what the fukk.

I don’t know how I feel about so many black characters being pure antagonist this time around. From Isaac to the SCAR you fight on the island. :patrice: Nora is the only 50/50 character.

Idk if this will make you feel any better but ND's next IP will star a breh as the main protag :manny:

Hopefully he won't die :heh:
