No offence but you gotta be dumb to take those Public reviewers seriously, it hasn’t been out a day and is 25-30 hours long, 90% of those people haven’t played the game and don’t intend to, they’re feelings are just hurt because Ellie is gay even tho that was confirmed 7 years ago

shyt is a 7 at the most. Spamming 10's is egregious when the embargo is only half the game.

But at the same time, people giving it a 0 are corny as hell.

The person who killed Joel is on a revenge mission for the person who killed HER father, you are literally doing that as Ellie, it’s not illogical you mental midget, if you can’t see the parallel in that I don’t know what to tell you

Jesus this game on some other shyt. I hate when games makes you feel miserable to play it. It’s basically torture porn. It’s funny because rdr2 actually handled the cinematic game genre almost perfectly. This ... not so much

RDR2 had the rise and fall, it was fun robbing punks and being a criminal piece of crap cos you were tight with the squad in the first half and everyone had their lighthearted quirks. It just seems bleak from the get go here, and the levity is always quiet. Like i couldn’t imagine these people sitting around a campfire and just chilling/bantering even though they do attempt portraying regular everyday fun IMO

That’s why I loved it all the more. In TLOU shyt hits the fan so quick it’s handled poorly in my eyes. And the fact that Ellie forgives.... in RDR you know that In these games there will not be a happy ending (John dying in 1) ( Arthur dying in two) but atleast you can find solace. Killing the cop as johns son, and avenging Arthur’s death. In TLOU2 it feels bleak like all the anger and pain you went through ended for nothing. Like to me there was no payoff. Funny cause the first ones ending was perfect for me. Joel lies but you don’t know if what he did was right or wrong

Also, this game managed to piss off the asian AND trans community.

I think a lot of this is

people are tired of creators being edgy for edgy sake and making stories that are just to antagonize the fan base

A thoughtful story could been done with all these charcters and even have you control abby maybe before she kills joel, so you like her


Or have you play as joel and make abby a boss fight you cant win


It seems to me it a mix of the director wanting to force certain elements( I am talking the misery porn) in to a narrative without think it's a game and people are going to have to interact with it and want to play it to continue the game

If this was season five of the last of us tv show .. people might react the same like they did with game of thrones. but people weren't forced to participate in game of thrones falling apart the way this game seems too

There also tasteful ways to tell LGBT stories but the same way black people get treated in certain games or movies as trinkets and novelties that seems to be what happen to ellie and the other LGBT charcters in this game to the point the gay community pissed off with the director

The first game handle this stuff with a lot more grace and humanity

Also covid and the anger over the police the world does not need more misery porn

These tweets along with the rest of her continued thread on Twitter is pretty much the embodiment of the Juelz Santana gif, I’m not talking to you personally, but I have never seen people reach as hard with a game as They have with this game

I'm not itching to play this, but the pearl clutching is hilarious to me. Ellie was 14 in the original. At one point, she's pinned to the ground and almost raped by a middle aged, sadistic pedo. She was traumatized and her character was never the same from that point up until the ending. A guy committs suicide and blows his brains out in front of the player, and Joel's entire M.O. for the duration of the game is to literally torture information out of those he requires it from.

You have suicide, torture, and child rape, all within the first 70% of the playthrough of the original. I'm struggling to really believe this game is so much more terrifying because someone gets a finger bitten off and another gets bashed in the head with a golf club. I'm sure some folks are "literally shaking," but the absence of giraffes can't be the deal breaker here.
