After playing this game I am certain if the leak hadn’t occurred the fan reviews would have been more split. Having that information fester and bloom in peoples minds has made people convince themselves they were destined to hate the game. Neil Cuckman needs to cool it on the agenda politics though. As people play video games to escape reality and not to be repeatedly hit over the head with political agendas.

Joel should have been a playable character in this and should have had a last grand horahhhhhh. Was Naughty Dog simply oblivious to how invested people were to the two characters that were in the first game.

He actually originally said Sara before the final blow..

Troy Baker said it'd be more powerful if he said nothing and they did the scene both ways..

Troy Baker was right and that's the scene we got..
:mjcry::mjcry: nikkas lips were trembling during that but if he struggled with his last breath to utter something like “it’s ok kiddo” before that swing I would have lost it. Despite not playing as Joel having that guitar scene to remind the players of the relationship between the two to build on the eventual death was clever as fukk. If I hadn’t spoiled it for my self that scene would have blown my mind which was what it was intended for the impact. On this occasion I hold my hand up and say I fukked up reading spoilers.

Yeah it was powerful, I was expecting him to say kiddo before the final swing because some lying ass nikka said it happened like that.:stopitslime:

I knew he was gonna he murked but I assumed he was gonna be bitten then shot to avoid turning or something. I mean the golf club to the skull was an unexpected twist. Legit was :snoop::sadbron: when it happened. Broke my heart when Ellie said “please don’t”

Would make zero sense but a mode just to play encounters like these would be dope :wow:

Not sure if it’s exactly what you mean, but you can select just the combat encounters from the main menu

Replaying on New Game+ and I can't see any game beating this for GOTY aside from Cyberpunk 2077 which looks amazing
I only have three critiques (2 for story, 1 for the game)
1) They should have executed Joel's death better instead of making him act out of character completely trusting Abby and willingly going to a cabin of strangers.
If they were consistent with Joel's personality, his mind would be filled with questions
and that scene wouldn't be very plausible. Joel dying wasn't my problem. My problem is with the way he died. They could have done his character a lot better than that. Instead they
chose to let him die in the most implausible and out of character way.

2) They should have done a better service to Abby's character instead of making her one of the most hated characters in video game history :mjlol:
Angry Joe had a better synopsis than ND IMO. Angry Joe's story would have made Ellie forgiving Abby make more sense and the revelation of who Joel really is and learning about what Abby's trauma is would have been mind blowing.
Bond with Abby outside of Jackson, she finally meets Joel, figures out who Joel is, flashes back to the hospital revealing the doctor was her father with the earlier parts of the game slowly revealing her past trauma but never hinting at what it was
I honestly don't know what to feel about the ending as a result and I think they made players
ply as Abby for too long. Should have been 75 Ellie/25 Abby. The story isn't bad it's actually incredible but flawed in execution. Playing it now,
it's one of the best stories ever but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. :yeshrug: That's why Neil Druckmann fulfilled his prediction of the story splitting the fanbase. His execution could have been better and now the fanbase is split because of it

3) ND pulled a MGS2 with this one. I was really looking forward to playing as Ellie and even though Abby's sections were fun and I didn't mind playing as her, it shouldn't have been for half the game. Should be 20-25%. Would rather play as Ellie with her explosive arrows

The game is a masterpiece but a flawed masterpiece. The game should have ended with Ellie killing Abby and leaving Lev to die or killing Lev as Lev is dying either way. Forgiving Abby made people feel like the game and its adventure was pointless, me included. They also did Joel dirty by how stupidly they killed him then forcing you to play half the game as Abby

If MGS2 had Raiden kill Snake and then play half the game as him
.

give this a watch if you haven’t already, I wanted the same as you for the ending, this guy breaking it down along with Abbys dreams and Ellie’s thought process really gave me a new perspective on things, despite what people say, nothing in this game (or at least most things) was done just for the fukk of it or to “subvert expectations”

This isn’t just his theory, It’s the best breakdown I’ve seen and literally everything he says connects and makes sense

but yeah, amazing game with a couple of things that could of been executed better, I Gave it 9/10

He hit it on the head..

I didn't even think about why Abby was so big but she's literally been working out for 4 years to get her revenge. The game even makes a point to subtly tell you how obsessed she is with working out. She never wants to miss her training..

I think the game may be too mature for a gaming audience and would be more appreciated as a tv series..

I'm curious to who they're gonna get to play Joel.. They keep talking about Josh Brolin..

The look isn't quite there but I think Jon Bernthal could pull it off:ehh: They'd just have to age him a bit..

Jon Berthal will always have my respect for his portrayal of Frank Castle, some people are just born to play certain adaptations, casting him as punisher is honestly up there with RDJ as Stark or Charlie Cox as Daredevil

I've been watching Punisher the past week lol

I'm still upset we won't see anymore of him as Punisher:mjcry:

What agenda was in this game?

The fact that the driving force behind the story are all female. And heavy emphasis on the LGBT lifestyle, I remember walking around a town and outside a store there was an LGBT flag flying and it was also painted on the floor. Druckmann isn’t excatly trying to be subtle, also there’s a reason every female in this game looks....... well a certain way (so as not to seemingly objectify as if beautiful feminine women don’t exist in reality). Eugene having a black wife and mixed kid etc...Overall I have not let it impact my enjoyment of the game but it’s definately there.
