I've just arrived at Day 3, lemme see what's got people so offended. 
does the game give us any real closure w/ ellie? (I’m not worried about spoilers...you can just tag it)
if not I imagine/hope they will in the next one
I love the fact that the story can be divisive. Too often gamers complain about everything being the same. Bold move.

Finished the whole game.
I managed to get over my initial malaise by playing with the settings until I found a style that worked for me. Turned on navigation so no more having to search a barely lit room for a crevice to crawl through. Made ammo plentiful. Turned on slow motion while aiming. Made it easy to skip the skirmishes I don't give a fukk about. Experience got a lot better after that. One thing I'll appreciate about TLOU2 is the freedom they gave you to adjust your experience. Literally no reason to be frustrated with the combat itself.
Other issues I had with the narrative remained until the end. The themes are fairly straightforward, beaten over your head and there's not really much to debate about it which doesn't make for very interesting discussion if both sides are being fair.
but, I will say the ending was striking. Seeing
For all the bytching about Abby going in, she felt great to control in this game. Even more so than Ellie. Just wish there the ideas around her character and her relationships were better, more fleshed out. And that this game used the characters as a vehicle for something more than just X theme.
Probably not doing a 2nd playthrough, since the story is what I was most interested in getting through with gameplay being ancillary to that. Will be watching streamers play it though just to see their reactions.

Abby is fugly. But man i be admiring her body

lmao man a good ass game will sometimes have me going weeks before I can play anything else
I just started the Abby portion and she/her story/her allies are already much more interesting than anything previously

I think that's what all great endings are supposed to do. The ones that make you think.
