The atmosphere in MH2 is creepier, its more psychological horror with a tighter camera angle. you probably prefer MH1 which is why you disagree.

I prefer MH1 because the atmosphere and psychological horror that was there, was presented in the crudest, most unforgiving and vile package that could have been offered at the time and it was wonderful. They gave you a protagonist that wasn't a saint, and set him loose in a world that required him to to be anything but, while having a sadistic voyeur dictate the rules until he lost control of his plaything and then the situation around him.

MH2, was supposed to be about a Schizophrenic mental patient who was hell bent on providing himself with answers pertaining to the situation he was found in but couldn't remember.....and they botched it. The story was heavily edited after they had to do away with the AO Rating and the middling bridge as to why Daniel Lamb was the way he was, ended up being executed in a very slipshod sort of way while you searched for answers, killing folk as someone who shouldn't be killing folk, but never really displayed why to the viewer until they revealed it after having a bunch of banal conversation between locations.

I guess I'm biased because I know and read of what MH2 was supposed to be and I'm still pissed it got nuterered, but MH1 was an unabashed, visceral game that didn't have a story that hindered it (too much) only accentuated it. MH2.....eh..not so much. Still enjoyed it, though.

MH1 wasnt psychological horror lol. I do agree that MH2 was fumbled, it should've been a bigger game.

EDIT:MH1 is a Survival horror, stealth action game.

EDIT 2: it was explained why he was killing people, the game starts off at a mental institute. Thats enough for the players as they get fed pieces of the story as they keep playing, like every other game with a narrative in existence, besides when i see MH1 i think of GTA 3. It looks like a joke gameplay wise, where as MH2 leans into GTA 4's gritty realistic territory.

I'd argue that the psychologocial horror was for the player in terms of trying not to get caught and having to hide in the shadows while being hunted and taunted, but I'd give you that, it was more survival.

And I don't get how you equate the gore in MH1 as GTA 3 "Joke Gameplay" and then herald MH2 like as if it deviated from that formula outside of adding some environmental kills and If I'm not mistaken, weapon kills. They weren't that much of a step up other than being different and in some ways, steeped in the same viscera and malice of the first; something that should have been different via the story of 2, which they bungled. Badly, which in turn hurt the whole package along with the revised story.

Had they pumped a bit more polish and care into it, it would have been the perfect vehicle to tell a sadistic story of betrayal, treachery and ugliness of the human spirit when it's left to fester in places like that, but after playing the entire game and being privy to it's poor execution, I still hold the notion that it's lesser than the first on so many fronts.

Quit with the games man, MH1 is classified as survival horror, MH2 is classified as Psychological horror
You're putting BS reasoning to help your own argument. MH1 looks like GTA 3. i've never said anything about mechanics or effects in game. It becomes trivial to even engage in debates on this site because dudes construe statements wrongly; deliberately.

I go by facts not "how can i alter this to help my argument"

Edit: irony, I am wrong on some points I apologize

it is manhunt but no one wearing a pig mask

with that said while Cartoonish State of Emergency couldn’t be made in 2020
TLOU is basically RE4 + Manhunt

Escort young girl while fighting off infected, stealthily murder enemies too using knives, environment, throwing objects to cause a distraction.

This game legit creeped me out with the violence.

Only read if finished with the game.
Even early on when they just popped the horse I knew this game was going to be different. All the stabs. The random shootings. Even when your players die some of those death was just over the top violent. The Rat King just grabbing Abby's neck and snapping that shyt fukked me up. Then even the late fight between Abby and Ellie and the drowning scene, I said aloud these game makers need to be see a psychiatrist. Even Abby when she put the beats on Ellie was nasty and so realistic.

No need, breh. I didn't exactly detail what I wanted to say as well as I should and thinking back on both games, I'll have to admit, I was in awe of what Manhunt 1 represented and while I still maintain that it was the better game in terms of cohesion with regards to the story along with the varied moods and madcap dialogues of the hunters that chased you, Nostalgia weighs heavy on me with MH1 over MH2 because even though I haven't played either in prolly over a decade if not longer, MH2 just really turned me off from what it was, since I knew it wasn't what it should be.

Really need to give both games a go, if not just to enjoy the series like I did way back then.

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.
the dogs shyt got me the most breh was like "Bear :damn: Ima fukking kill you :pacspit: " first time in a game where I telling the main character to stop all this demonic killing :mjcry: the sounds the dogs make when you kill them :mjcry: the sounds the humans make when you burn then :mjcry: but you gotta keep the massacre to push the story forward :mjcry:

shyt wasn't "fun" to play for me in that regard and I loved it, rarely do I give a fukk about a character in a game when im creating a bunch of carnage.

Then as Abby you to get to play catch with bear :mjcry:

Ellie ain't shyt :to:

I was torn up after going through the flashbacks and realized I KILLED Alice :mjcry:

This game is not necessarily the most violent but it is easily the most realistic violence ever put in a videogame. The weight of weapons hacking into an enemy, their death cries and expressions but also their allies calling out their names in shock. When you kill someone in this game they make you feel it. :picard:
