A actually don't hate The Girl is Mine. It just felt out of place. I would have swapped it with Say Say Say but I get it why they went the route they did.

I never thought about this. I don't mind The Girl is Mine, but Say Say Say on Thriller would have been perfect :ohhh:

I'm still laughing at the one post I saw on here where a breh said he remembers when the Jackson 5 first hit on the scene

maybe he was bullshytting, but damn is that funny
It was probably @Art Barr that said it.
If im not mistaken his mother served as Earl The Pearl Monroes' driver.

Lol. The Girl is mine is the worst song on that album but Black music takes from Rolling Stone is like buying Soul Food from a Norwegian.
I like The Girl is Mine. I think of it as Paul McCartney and MJ fighting over The Beatles catalogue. But it's the weakest song on Thriller

But The Lady in My Life is a certified Blassic.

Rolling Stone is just being Rolling Stone. Meaning.

Rolling Stone is the epitome of old, out of touch white people who embody every musical stereotype associated with them. Nobody sane thinks "The Lady in My Life" doesn't have a place on Thriller. They could have made it easy on themselves. Could have easily said "The Girl is Mine" and nobody would care, but because one of their heroes (Paul McCartney) is on it, that means it's acceptable. fukk them.

By the way, I'm still convinced Usher was trying to create his own "Lady in My Life" when he came out with this:

The full version is a masterpiece:

Having to cut a verse so it could fit on the record, the song clearly sounds off, like something is missing, it sounds rushed

Crazy I've never heard that extended version but I can see why it was shortened. The way the instruments hit on the B-sections and after the chorus, sounds better on the album version. And that additional verse is kinda meh vs the onr that made the cut.

In any case, this song has one of the most recognized melodies, a hypnotic bass line, and a top tier vocal performance from MJ

Rolling Stone aint sht
