Udoka and his coaching staff are picking their poison. There's nothing dumb about it.

They've managed to reduce Draymond's role on offense (often taking him out of the possession-hunt and his ability to control the game, even to the point where he's been benched), and haven't allowed Klay, Wiggins and Poole to ever get comfortable. The Warriors' superpower is how they all work together, as a collective: moving the ball, capitalizing off all the defensive attention Steph receives and passing up a good shot opportunity for an even better one. That's why they've had the success they've had. The genesis of who they are isn't from being more talented, but maximizing whatever talent they have. The Celtics have removed all that. They've dumbed GS' offense down to whatever Steph hits them with and living with the consequences.

And it's worked.

Defensively, there isn't a whole lot wrong the Celtics have done up to this point, it's what's happening on the other end which is the problem for them. Tatum completely shytting the bed outside a couple quarters and Jaylen being inconsistent is what's stopping them from taking the advantage. The Celtics are likely up 3-1 if Tatum played to his abilities, and we're not having this discussion on whether or not they're doing the right/wrong thing on defense.

Klay is the wild card, he's a fearless shooter, so all it takes is one big game and Dubs are in great position. Who knows lol so many possibilities.
