I saw Hollow Man as a 14 year old, and I'm not falling for it again, though I don't even think this will have some of the slim charms that Vervohoven's adaptation did.

Reviews do seem to be positive, the preview was doing itself no favors, and made it look like cheap seasonal horror, but I remember the same thing with The Gift, which means sometimes it's a hard movie to market, I will await more reviews.

I am sure you have seen the original Invisible Man, but it came out in what, 1934? I think I did see it, but I have forgotten when, and where. I remember watching the Abbott and Costello ones when I was a little kid.

My logic to bring up Hollow Man, is obvious, the modern update of a horror classic, this is it's latest interpretation. I read the Gleiberman review, and I didn't know it was tech horror/guru unhealthy relationship sort of twist, I think I am in, pending one more solid review.

@FlyRy, you always are complimentary about reviews or essays on movies, I have posted, I have seen it, and thank you man, I think we all see the cinephile in all of our posts, thanks for your guys effort.

Well you know Veerhoven is a weird cat and will have his own slant to it. This one, even without me reading a review and just going by what Leigh talked about in interviews, is about domestic abuse and the unhealthy relationship you talked about. Along with being an allegory for believing women, very similar to the new suspiria

I’m not saying they did a bad job with revealing too much... but if the main crux of a good chunk of the movie is gonna be others thinking she’s crazy, wouldn’t it have made sense to lean into that a bit more instead of showing us that someone really is there? :ld:

Well, that's a hard sell given the title, and the films concept from classic Universal horror, but I 100% agree, in fact, that angle is what kept "Get Out" from being a really effective horror, as it was apparent very early on, even if you didn't want the trailers, that there was something very wrong in that house. It drains all the tension, and most of the thrill in horror comes from the rising action/tension.
