The one that has Survival Of The Fittest, Eye For An Eye, Temperature Rising, Cradle To The Grave, Give Up The Goods, Shook Ones, Tife Life, Drink Away The Pain, and every other song on the album:lawd:

True, so many classics. So many of those songs on Infamous stand the test of time and sound as dope today as ever. The production was incredible, like really first rate shyt. It was just a great sounding album, I'm surprised people shyttin on the album lol, as I feel it ranks up with Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Illmatic etc. In some ways I like it more. I hear about those 3 albums all the time, so of the stand out ones along with Ready To Die etc.

If you never felt the depression of growing up in the hood you cant truly appreciate the greatness of the infamous anyway :manny: There are some legitimate criticisms of The Infamous, repetitive beats being one, beats that aged far better than DC production but never the less a legitimate gripe, but anyone dismissing it as just a bunch of generic empty gangsta rap doesn't know what they're talking about. The album is every bit as socially reflective as DC, it just doesn't have the opinions & sideline observations because they was in it, while Cube was a nikka on the outside looking in, which makes it better than DC imo. The emotional connection is there with Infamous that just isn't with DC. Infamous captures the combination of anger, depression & hopelessness of the lost & ostracized adolescents in the ghetto in a way that no album ever has in the history of music. Album should be a point of reference for sociologists, album should be preserved for historians, the music & poetry on infamous is as significant and potent as on 'Strange Fruit', this is the 1990's version of Strange Fruit.

I'ma bigger Mobb Deep fan than I am of Cube... but Death Certificate is bar far the better album and it's not even close. The only thing I'll agree with is that.. The Infamous production doesn't sound as dated as Death Certificate..

Moving out to Cali in the early 90's and getting into artist like C-Bo, Raided, and Lynch... the shyt Mobb Deep was rapping about wasn't all that new or mindblowing to me... If anything, it's the shyt P would say and how he'd say it that was bettter that was the difference...

In regards to the beats, I felt production was on of the strong points. I think it was vital it had a similar consistent sound to fit in with the mood of the album. It's always been one of my favourite albums for that reason, it wasn't an album where wanted to hear huge diversity, cause to me it was like a concept album taking you into their life and hood. People talking about fake g shyt... firstly apparently Cube went to a good school and weren't really hood like that, numerous stories and shyt about all that. Apparently he was even driven to school or some shyt like that. Mobb Deep have documented shoot outs and shyt. I only mention this in response, I don't think less of Cube cause of that shyt but the double standards are crazy. Havoc and his family really was on some street shyt, and P was allowed into the circle therefore was involved too. You have to be in the field to be involved in drama in the first place, especially as much as the Mobb was. Plus Mobb Deep was a crew deeper than rap. Plus even within the theme there's different type of songs and beats, Drink Away The Pain sounds different from Survival Of The Fittest. People praise Illmatic but diss Infamous? They are similar, Nas might have been more lyrical and introspective, but they are very similar.

If you been in beef you often relate to Infamous. Or live in the hood in most environments. shyt like Shook One's , it describes the feeling of going through drama, and doing dirt and wondering about how it's going to affect you. It was much more than simple gangsta talk, Survival Of The Fittest and shyt like that, perfectly describes a violent environment, so I understand perfectly what you mean that it should be studied, it should, That's why people love the album cause related to that in the hood, not just QB but any hood, any violent environment. Even the title Survival Of The Fittest says something, and the whole Eye For An Eye concept and mentality "son your beef is mine", that's how it is in the hood often. Ridin for your people. Havoc's verses are underrated to me too. Had the legitimate paranoia a lot of people feel. The whole shyt was some street hood shyt. It's an incredible album. I don't glorify gangsterism but it's some relatable street shyt. Beats are epic too, listening now, they are crazy. Eye For An Eye sounds like a RZA beat. It has such a common mentality in the hood on the album. Too much to say about the album because it's that good. To simplify what it is is fictitious. I relate a lot more to Infamous than DC. I never did a lot of the shyt he talked about on doing dumb shyt, but I have been in the street. So I love this album.

The beats compared to DC I think are hugely superior. Lyrically I think it's better. Content is a toss up, because there's merit in Mobb's too, and personally I like it more. If I wanted to hear pro black shyt would listen to Public Enemy, if I wanted to hear social criticism, WITH solutions I'd listen to KRS-One. Saying that there's some shyt I like on DC but as a whole it's Infamous. You make a good point with your analysis, I agree. It not only does that, but it's done well and entertaining too. It feels real cause it IS real. Not saying Mobb are all mafia type gangstas, but was the crew in the streets for real and involved in drama? Yes. And a lot of people can relate to that. And the whole shyt on Temperature's Rising for instance, that's a deeply personal real story.
