The inaugural 12 team college football playoff ranking thread. This year champ will not have an asterisk

Which school will never crack the top 25?

What a shytshow. The process is severely flawed.

Boise state the 3 seed :comeon: 2 ACC teams get in essentially aided by losing to each other. And Arizona state with a bye :laff:

The elephant in the room is they are holding onto equal treatment to conference winners, when each conference CLEARLY ain’t the same. shyt is like rewarding a boxer who schedules tomatoe cans to ‘keep his zero’

Serious question. Very serious question; what is the point of scheduling ANY difficult games. Just chose teams you know you can beat and position yourself in a cake walk schedule and voila you’re practically guaranteed to be in there

Sounds like you want a SEC/Big10 challenge

…..and?!? :wtf: If that’s who the best team are so be it.

Plus being mad about that doesn’t even make sense any more. A year ago Oregon and Texas would be representing other conferences. But now since they (inexplicably, hilariously) joined the big 10 and SEC, I’m supposed to cry SEC bias?! :wtf:

They’ve already b*stardized the original context and meaning of conferences so why do some of you keep holding onto it? The big 12 was a few phone calls away from no longer existing, but now their champion—- beat Texas St by 3 points—-is the 4 seed in the playoffs. It’s a joke.

All the writing on the wall is there. The current conference champion/conference alignment/auto bid format will not exist in 10 years. If not 5. Not a chance. You can’t have these super conferences with elite comp yet more than 2 losses = you out of the playoffs

One of these years some SEC/B10 team is going to lose 3 games to 3 top 10 teams, kill everybody else, but miss out on a playoff spot to a 7-5 Big 12 champ. It’s a certified disaster waiting to happen :manny:

The math on that isn't likely

He should be mad at Sankey giving Texas that easy ass SEC schedule but you know he won't do that. :mjpls:
I’m more offended that the two biggest brands in that conference who get the benefit of the doubt 99.9% of the time got the biggest crybabies out here whining when shyt doesn’t go their way. Gotdamn

part of the problem too is that the big 10/sec got too fukking big. Teams are playing uneven conference schedules (Indiana, TX)

I like the p4 + 1 conference champs getting in, less room to cram in the same other 5-6 schools each year depending on whose up or down (LSU, Bama, Michigan, OU, Miami, USC for example of teams who'll be around lurking too soon.

I dont wanna see the MAC or Sun Belt champion in the bracket :camby: enjoy that bowl game and keep it pushing

the entire argument is this

do you want 'best teams'

or do you want a tournament of champions

i significantly prefer the latter because you actually EARNED your way in other than being 'good.

plus that would within 1-2 years create more parity across the sport.
The goal of the 4 team playoff was best teams. The goal of the 12 should be the same.

Looks like the goal of 12 is representation 👎🏿

mf's would rather see brands over actually earned the right to be there. Imagine if this were the case for the NFL. There would be riots

To be honest, you can't even say for sure that Alabama is "better" than SMU. Obviously Alabama has better players but they lost to Vanderbilt and OU this year... How can anyone confidently say that Alabama would beat anyone in this tournament? People are looking at the jersey and projecting outcomes based on that alone.
