For real, at the end of the day, if they want this tournament to be taken seriously and show any un bias, they gotta take SMU with a loss (unless they get their doors blown off)

For one, they cant just take a team who is 9-3 and finished in a 6 way tie for 4th in their conference in the 1st year of this new tourney. They have to show that wins matter somewhat.

Second, SMU would have lost to 2 Top 20 teams, where as Alabama got rocked by 2 different 6-6 teams. They have to keep SMU above Alabama with a close loss.

I do agree that reseeding is very necessary, cause the #5 seed is the best seed in the whole thing when you look at brackets. #5 will most likely be playing the 2 worst conference champs in the first 2 rounds.

For fukkery, they should let the top 4 seeds pick who they want to play from the 1st round winners.

Last, with the potential winners this weekend, who would have ever thought that either Arizona St or Iowa St could be as high as the 3 seed in the tourney?

If UNLV beat Boise St, and Clemson beats SMU- The Big 12 winner is the 3, Clemson the 4, and UNLV is the 12. Im sure they will be happy with the UNLV/Notre Dame 1st round game.

Notre Dame will be the 5 once Penn St loses
Ohio St will be the 6 (so they will get either SMU with a loss, or Alabama)

They don't reseed in any other NCAA football tournament, why is this necessary? :heh:

They don't reseed when an upset happens in March Madness, why is this necessary? :heh:

Win your conference and enjoy your first round bye. The top 4 conference leaders are all top 10 teams right now, the only issue is that 3 and 4 are SMU and Boise St.

If Miami and Colorado were sitting in those places, this isn't a conversation.

Its not just conference champions in the bye positions for any other football tournament (or any other NCAA tournament) to answer your question. In EVERY other sport, they get the best teams in there, and then rank them accordingly. So #15 wont get a bye while #2 or #3 doesnt. So that makes all of what you said moot.

Yeah, not seeing how Alabama makes it in even if SMU loses. At the end of the regular season, the committee has SMU 8th and Alabama 11th. There’s no way the committee punishes SMU 3 spots for losing a conference title game while Alabama is at home. I think the playoff field is pretty set other than Clemson being in if they win or flIp Boise St and UNLV based on whoever wins that game.

SMF and LAX to VA and NC
SMU is in even if they lose.
They aren't a lock by any means. You know if they lose that strength of schedule shyt will come into play...
Why would you take SMU, I’m willing to bet you haven’t watched a single second of SMU football ever
And you'd be right. I'd take SMU because I think the records have to mean something, so do the losses, and Bama lost to two teams that were unranked at the time they played em...

But no, I've never seen a snap of SMU football. Sell me on why you'd take Bama over them with an SMU loss...

Alabama isn’t ahead of SMU with those “better wins.” How will they jump 3 spots over them without playing a game?

The committee says it is possible and that is all that matters.

They will drop SMU below Alabama and tell you it was for football reasons.
