The show was doing just fine until Weeknd showed up. He's fukking abysmal.

Finally got around to watching this after all the hype and controversy.
It's not good, but it's not as bad as people on the internet are trying to make it so far. Typical Sam Levinson project. Highly stylized, cool cinematography, mediocre writing, sleazy, and all that, (The Weeknd's acting is ass tho) but still mildly entertaining. It's like Entourage mixed with the intros to Blacked.com scenes

which doesn't really work in 2023, imo. when every decent looking young chick has an onlyfans and there's porn to last a millenia, what's even the point? seeing 2 randos have passionate dirty R rated sex just doesn't have the same punch it used to, and this show feels like it's basically centered around that.

But the show feels hella empty so far. The pilot overall wasn’t bad, but it didn’t wow me either. Felt like it was stuck somewhere in the middle in limbo to me. Hopefully it picks up soon as there’s only five more eps left.
The critics of course over-exaggerated the pilot’s raunchiness for some clicks but so far this wasn’t anything as crazy compared to Euphoria’s demonic fukkery.
