Just a feint, stepped down as chairman of ruling party but is still President. Also guy he put in his place is also indicted by ICC  both terrified to leave, because they’ll be handed over.

Still the protests have been relentless and he’s shown his hand over the past few weeks. He has no real international backers either.

He removed all the governors in the country, declared a state of emergency, and replaced them with military commanders. He’s betting that by further empowering army he’ll be coup proof. We will see.

An Ethiopian Airlines flight between Addis Ababa and Kenya's capital, Nairobi, has crashed, the Ethiopian prime minister's office said on Sunday.

"The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express its deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning," the office of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on Twitter.

A statement by the airline said 149 passengers and eight crew members were on board the plane when it crashed.

Bashir regime is teetering on the edge of collapse. Some parts of army appear to have sided with protests and mutinied against orders from chain of command.

Mass sit-ins in front of Presidential compound since April 6th which was the anniversary of the latest succesful Sudanese revolution in 1985. Remarkable times. @FAH1223 @JDH @Trajan

Will we ever see this in Asmara :sas2: ?
:mjcry: Idk but this #yiakl movement seems to have been picking up steam. Yiakl means enough in tigrinya. But its mostly some internet shyt

You can say a lot of things about Isaias but he is very politically shrewd, which is part of the reason he's been able to stay in power for so long, shifting allegiance between different gulf nations etc. It would be hard to do something like this in eritrea because most of the youth have either fled or are scattered throughout the country on military conscription with no means to communicate. Also the eritrean opposition is super weak, another reason he's been able to stay so long is because there is no real alternative. Which is by design obviously. He's dismantled pretty much every university and political institution. Idek what will happens when he goes. Like who will take over? Probably chaos

Also one of the most famous slogans in eritrea is "awet n'hafash (ዓወት ንሓፋሽ) which means "victory to the masses" :mjcry: which was sort of lika a slogan during the struggle for independence

Food and water?

Large percentage of young people...dictatorship...repression...corruption... unemployment etc

I remember the Economist mag basically predicting the Arab Spring back in 2008 and saying Egypt was a cauldron due to these factors. I didn't think it was possible for things to get out of control THAT much as Mubarak had shyt on smash (or so I thought). shyt still hasn't changed and ppl are now facing economic ruin.
