:dwillhuh: that nikka was really a janitor?
:mjlol: didn't even notice that
Dude was a clown though all loses no wins, and that whole building up a hero thing loses all credibility when we be seen time and time again a character go from loser to a hero over the course of one flick
My big bro who's a huge Star Wars fan (even defends the prequels) calls tfa the farce and says it's the worst Star Wars flick, we had long convos about how it could have been really good instead a popcorn flick (IMO) by changing a few plot points

Finn was never a loser and was probably the most heroic person in the entire series.

Being a hero isn't being a complete badass that kills everything around him. Finn standing up to Kylo-Ren to save the helpless Rey or breaking onto Starkiller to save his friend aren't heroic deeds?

Finn went from being a terrified but talented child soldier that had never killed anyone or been in actual combat to leading the a guerilla force to shut down Starkiller shields to standing up to one the symbols of the organization that raised him since birth.

I can definitely see both sides of the argument but man I'd say the biggest thing that hurt the character was the fact he had no decisive cool WIN/scene in the film. Sure he's shown to be capable and smart in most of the action going on but then they negate it with him getting his ass kicked by Rey in the beginning and worst to me getting his ass kicked by a fukking stormtrooper with a fukking baton :francis: I felt they should've had him kill that stormtrooper. I mean it was set up so well Maz hands him the saber tells him it IS a weapon he's supposed to be the top talent out of all the stormtroopers let him mow down some troopers and have him get surrounded by a bunch of troopers instead of gasping on the ground while he gets saved by Han Solo.

Now going forward I'm guessing he'll have cool dope scenes fans will hold on to and remember but man they did him nasty in FA.

How does him getting beat by Rey negate his ability? Finn has never been in combat whereas Rey has been living on her own in a desert planet for ages. He wasn't even trying to fight her.

The storm trooper scene doesn't bother me. Light sabers are notoriously hard to wield without training, Finn didn't even know how to turn the damn thing on a few seconds ago, and the stormtrooper had obviously trained with that weapon. Yeah, it sucked that he got beat but it also goes along with Finn's uncertainty. Watch the scene, he's almost always reacting and defensive.

Not only that but it makes Finn's decision to stand up and fight against Kylo even more important because it showed Finn's courage and strength of character. You also see another example of Finn's talent and growth. He's more aggressive, he's attacking (Not reacting), and he shows enough talent to force Kylo to get serious after injuring jam (Which is like if you forced Durant to try and beat you in basketball) despite just learning how to use the weapon.

Again, Rey wasn't racking up wins. She got instantly beaten by Kylo TWICE.
