This reads like some shyt a fan would write. Sounds like he caught feelings after everyone clowned the character

shyt's funny as hell cause a fully rogue badass character is exactly what we got from the jump with Rey

Dude definitely saw how displeased everyone was with Finn.

I kind of feel bad...white people in these types of institutions are *really good* at pulling this kinda stuff with blacks without them knowing it. Like, I bet they filled his head with all kinds of talk about "how brave Finn will look"...knowing that he was going to play more as a comedic sidekick.

If Finn becomes a full fledged Jedi in the next movie how yall gon feel? Legit question, no sarcasm.

Happy I guess.

That won't be a defense of anything in TFA.

As if we didn't watch Rey and Poe own every scene they were in. Rey went from whooping ass to piloting the falcon to saving Finn from that beast to having the saber talk to her to learning mind tricks and overpowering Kylo to whooping Kylo Renn.

Boring I guess?

As if we didn't watch Luke blow up the Death Star and Anakin win podraces and blow up that Trade Federation ship in their first episode.

I'm not even saying he's wrong, but he must realize his own movie and the whole franchise have set a precedent of building up heroes who do badass shyt in first episodes.

Yeah, I'm actually wondering how he can justify that "boring" talk, when Rey, Poe, Han, and even Kylo are absolutely legit in this movie and he's the only character to take massive L's without any wins.

Got him out here begging and pleading to sucker black folk into going back for episode on 8 on some "they'll do right by him this time, I'm sure of it :mjcry: "

:russ: exactly

Yeah I'm not falling for this shyt again.

The movie ends on a pretty sour note for the character.

I think that they are going to de-emphasize him from here on out. He'll get his wins here and there, but the true lead is Rey, and it seems that even Kylo is going to be ahead of Finn in importance from here on out.

How is that copping a plea ?? It's what reasonable fans who weren't pining all of black history hope on him been saying

It's copping a plea because he's *clearly* being defensive over the negative response to his character.

One of my white co-workers finally watched TFA this past weekend and he came to my desk yesterday talking about "Why was the black Stormtrooper a janitor? They had maintenance bots in the early movies I think this movie might be a bit racist"...:russ:

The character made a mockery of blacks.

A year since Force Awakens came out. How the Coli feeling :patrice:

A year from now will all be well in Episode 8 :jbhmm:

I kept this avatar and sig for a whole fukking year....

I'm :snoop: for two reasons.

First reason is just, :snoop:, time really does fly. Like damn, this was just going to be a joke for a couple of days, couple days turn into weeks turn into months..it's been a fukking year for real?

Second reason is :snoop: I kept this for a whole year....:mjlol:

And Finn may get a few wins here and there but it's obvious at this point that the misdirection was the main purpose of his character. He's getting a boring, non-force sensitive team-up story with the asian chick. It's all about Rey and Kylo.

You guys have no idea what they are gonna do with this character.

So what Finn was a janitor Stormtrooper. All of the Stormtroopers are basically blue collar worker bees for the Empire. If Finn was white, his background in the SW universe wouldn't raise any eyebrows. Luke was a fukking farmer in the first movie. A farmer! Han Solo was a smuggler and Anakin/Vader was a slave. Let's just wait and see how this pans out.

Rogue One makes TFA even worse.

We had another female lead but this time ALL of the dudes around her were badass. Even the comic relief was tough as fukk and a real g.

Man fukk JJ.

"waits for 'but TFA is just the first movie we had see a former Janitor turned elite Stormtrooper somehow lose every fight he's in and get made fun of by every other main character. We also had to see a white man giving him his name, we had to anything else would've been boring :damn:"'

I also didn't understand how Rey was able to speak in her native accent but not Finn. Made no sense whatsoever

Time waits for no one :wow:

Watched Attack the Block before seeing it. :ohlawd: Couldn't wait for Boyega to bring that swagger to a Galaxy Far Far Away :salute:

15 minutes into the movie and breh is sort of a clown :ld:

Funny :manny:....but not the leading man character I thought :lupe:

He got the light saber :banderas:...

Wait a minute he got sliced so ole girl can realize she a hero :dahell:

:mjcry:

I got faith for episode 8 though

1. Finn is a child soldier that never experienced a real battle before he was ordered to Jakku to kill innocent civilians and then showed the most moral compass out of everyone we've ever seen in the SW universe by undoing a lifetime of First Order propaganda to defect.

2. Rey literally got Insta-smashed by Kylo Ren TWICE. SHE LOST THAT 2nd fight instantly after he threw her into the tree and it was Finn who bought her enough time to wake up. Rey ends up right back with Kylo and Snoke if Finn wasn't there. Not only that lightsabers are notoriously hard to use without force sensitivity and training yet Finn was already good enough to match what amounts to a master swordsman in a fight. Lightsabers are ungodly rare in the Star Wars universe and Finn didn't even know what the damn thing was so that's very impressive.

3. You missed all the aspects of Finn's tactical genius and his talents.

-Finn got a crash course into two very different weapon systems in two different ships and almost immediately showed incredible aptititude in gunning down multiple ships, even during gun malfunctions.

-Finn almost instantly came up with a tactical plan to kill the people boarding the Millenium Falcon in the ship and its only because Han and Chewie know the ship better than anyone that they didn't get gassed.

-Finn was the one giving orders to Han when they went to save Ray. He was the one coming up with the strategy and leading the charge, with Han listening to him, before it was pointed out the Rey was already escaping.

-Finn standing up to Kylo is a BIG DEAL. Kylo is like the right hand of the First Order and he's a being that Finn has been taught to treat almost like royalty. Standing up against overwhelming odds, to protect a friend, against the person you were pretty much raised to treat like an infallible being is a pretty big moment.

4. Kylo Ren OWNED the fukk out of Poe too. nikkas acting like Finn the only one who caught losses to Kylo but he was washing everyone.

I like Finn. I think people are hoping he'd be like a Jedi Wesley Snipes Blade kinda dude but he's actually more like a Steve Rogers from Captain America. This story set up the fact that Finn is a hero because of who he IS, innately, as opposed to any prophecy or being a chosen one.

There isn't anything wrong with a character showing more emotions than badass and witty. Finn was an actual character with actual growth.

I can definitely see both sides of the argument but man I'd say the biggest thing that hurt the character was the fact he had no decisive cool WIN/scene in the film. Sure he's shown to be capable and smart in most of the action going on but then they negate it with him getting his ass kicked by Rey in the beginning and worst to me getting his ass kicked by a fukking stormtrooper with a fukking baton :francis: I felt they should've had him kill that stormtrooper. I mean it was set up so well Maz hands him the saber tells him it IS a weapon he's supposed to be the top talent out of all the stormtroopers let him mow down some troopers and have him get surrounded by a bunch of troopers instead of gasping on the ground while he gets saved by Han Solo.

Now going forward I'm guessing he'll have cool dope scenes fans will hold on to and remember but man they did him nasty in FA.

:dwillhuh: that nikka was really a janitor?
:mjlol: didn't even notice that
Dude was a clown though all loses no wins, and that whole building up a hero thing loses all credibility when we be seen time and time again a character go from loser to a hero over the course of one flick
My big bro who's a huge Star Wars fan (even defends the prequels) calls tfa the farce and says it's the worst Star Wars flick, we had long convos about how it could have been really good instead a popcorn flick (IMO) by changing a few plot points

I said it before in another thread, but people might not have been so pissed off if Disney hadn't pulled that blatant bait and switch. All the promotional material had Finn wielding a lightsaber doing cool shyt. The marketing led everyone to believe that Finn would either being a Jedi in training, force sensitive, or at the very least a bad ass soldier. Instead we found out that all the cool shyt we were being show was ALL the cool shyt he did in the movie and each of those scenes were following up by him making an ass of himself or getting his ass kicked.
