What you think about Gucci Mane saying he "gave" (not sell)Young thug and his contract to Todd Moscowitz?

He said this after being released from jail

man i was disgusted when i heard him reveal that in that FLEX interview....

i thought he would have learned from the "so icey label" situation he lost...

because i truly felt and still feel GUCCI MANE with his eye for talent could have been a real business mogul in the sense of Birdman and others......and the excuse was he was being "finessed"(taken advantage of business wise) by cats like Coach K and Miss Deb A...who exploited him while he kept going back n forth to jail...

and Todd Moscowitz is no different....regardless of the "flop" of thug's debut album...

moscowitz has pointed out that THUGGA has been a huge success as proving by the streaming numbers based on youtube views alone when he and lyor escorted THUGGA to the google/youtube offices to look at the stats...

thugga at that time had already half a billion views all together on YOUTUBE that could be monetized according to Lyor Cohen... :mindblown:...... Gucci lost out on a treasure!!!

its like i pointed out in another thread the labels are making a profit even when the artist flops badly...because the profit margin generated from streaming alone offsets actual sales/downloads

Will we ever see a scene of hip hop where corporations haven't taken pieces out of it? Totally sustaining itself by its area, not iTune

not in this age of globalisim and everything and everybody being tied into the "online community"....

i just dont see it...cause everything is broadcasted thru the net....nothing is really underground.........

no musical genre...no cutting edge artist...no "new dance"...no "new drug"....or fashion can be regulated to some limited area or scene...

that's why REGIONALISIM is dead.....east coast , dirty south, the westcoast and the chi are all the same ....nothing unique like back in the day...

everybody sips lean..everybody talking money...everybody smokes loud..got shooters...wear the same shyt and fukk the same thots.. :manny:

even our inner thoughts or secrets are made public voluntarily or involentarily due to wikileaks :russ:

hip hop was unique when i was growing up cause you had to BE THERE to experience it..

but now anybody can facetime or go live on facebook or snapchat thier experiences for globally

and the global outlets...i.e youtube...dating sites...blogs social media are all controlled by corporations....

that's why i say the concept of being independent or self sustaining is IRRELEVENT in this area

like the DIY concept ..hell i tried it myself...thought i was doing something when i put out singles by my artist thru Tunecore the digital aggregator which put me in "stores" such as itunes, google play , cd baby etc. .......till i found out that Universal Records had just purchased Tunecore so basically i was working for a major :snoop:

thier is NO ESCAPING CORPORATE TYRANNY (GLOBALISIM)

Ask donald trump...he talked all that "take back washington from the lobbysist and bankers" yet.....he HAD to appoint a Goldman and Sachs rep to be his future sec. of treasury...

Lmao at the tunecore thing. But what about radio or pirate radio? For example I am from a small but major city in the West with no famous mcs or hip hop scene. You don't think, somewhere like mobile couldn't thrive just based off of putting in work within the community?

Seems like rappers can't conquer their citys first, except ny mcs

lmao at the "pirate radio thing" :russ:

you think you can just "thrive" just putting in work...without some MONEY being spent??!?!

good luck with that :manny:

what pirate radio??...oh you mean like finding some cat who broadcasts from his basement with a 200 dollar antenna from Radio Shack willing to play everybody locally cause he is not political or corporate like traditonal radio...yeah right

and college radio.... :russ: please........most college radio deejays are spinning mainstream acts.....and when they do spin local acts they do a very poor job of promoting......

this aint the days of Stretch and Bobitto in NYC or the beatbox radioshow on WREK at georgia tech in atlanta....

those DAYS ARE DEAD......the internet once again and globalisim killed everything

if you don't have a BUDGET YOU CAN'T GET ON THE RADIO....

your local market urban radio stations are either controlled by CLEAR CHANNEL or RADIO ONE...and i know for a fact PAYOLA was in full effect then and it still is now....

in 2005 "we" (indy label) i worked for was told we had to come up with at least 5k to be considered for airplay on a certain clear channel station in a "small but major city" in the south....and that airplay was only for the wee hours in the morning...

and the internet is no different....trust me i know

even the small time internet broadcasters like i was is charging.....

sure a lil 50 or 100 bucks for a months airplay on my station was cool but how u expect to generate traffic (fans) just off ONE STATION OR RADIO SHOW...u need a budget as i told cats

u need multiple outlets even in a small town to survive....that means live365.com....blogtalkradio.com...

and those NYC mcees you think are "conquering thier cities" are not doing it organically...they are already PLUGGED in with industry ties ($$$) no different than the ATL cats who got some dopeboy with deep pockets cool with the industry cats and strip club deejays to get that buzz going....

21 savage.....young ma....designer....are NOT overnight sensations.....

thoughts on fidel castro?

love and hate the guy.............

i love the fact that he was able to kick not only the United states "puppet" leaders like batista out during the revolution...

but he also shut down the MAFIA..whom was eating good off of Cuba's casinos and gambling entities...

gotta salute a guy whom didn't want to see his country no longer exploited as a bunch of CABANA c00nS for tourists...

he's an inspiration to the carribean...

i just hated the fact that he couldn't find the perfect balance between capitilisim and socialisim.....

probally due to the heavy SOVIET influence and the embargos set on the country by the US and UN...

SAD...cause cuba has vast resources it could have capitilzed on but being caught in the midst of a cold war didnt help....

i also wasn't feeling the whole "leader for life" mentality that he had....which was based mostly on insecurity instead of having the country's best intrest at hand......but it is what it is..he had his time......

i just don't want cuba to go full fledged CAPITILIST...they ain't prepared and history has shown us it isn't good for brown and black nations...

all it does it provides human capitial for the sweatshops and sex trade........

For an artist who got the skills, the talent, aesthetics as far as visuals go, where should they start? Uploading to YouTube and SoundCloud to garner a following and then work locally doing shows to drum up a fanbase?
Where can one read up on the practices the industry uses to fukk artists out of their property?

Basically i know a dude who's got legit talent, I got the eye and skill to do the visuals, but he don't got the wherewithal to not get fukked in the booty by the first label that tells them they'll give him 10k or whatever up front to sign his life away.

one word: MANAGER

a good professional manager can do all that you refrenced in those statements .....

and im not talking "your homeboy that believes in you type of management"

im talking somebody who is actually gonna earn that standard 15% manager's commision because he not only sees the value within the artist he represents, but he also has the connections and has the confidence to create opportunities for the artist even when situations seem doubtful and non existent
