I like em, but I don't like em, if that makes any sense.

I feel like LOTR is sort of a "Testament to White People"....strong nationalist themes in them. Last film they went HAM on "people from the east"....:mjpls:

fukka LOTR.

At least Game of Thrones acknowledges that black people exist.
:heh: never thought of it like that. but ain't it "the black folks" who are trying to use the ring for evil purposes

edit: Just got it now while I read what I wrote:dwillhuh::ohhh::ohlawd::to::whew: these CaC's done did it again

ive the read the hobbit like 3 times back in high school, a lil favorite of mine. The story isnt like LOTR where its like a giant war going on, its just about those dwarves and bilbo trying to get to the "lonely mountain" where a dragon is residing at with a crazy amount of gold and treasure. Along the way they bump into a couple of places LOTR fans will recognize, and of course how bilbo got the ring from gollum.

all in all its a good story, but i would say LOTR fans will like it more than anyone else

there is no one thats better than the other, you can view it as a 9 hour long movie. its not like oceans movies or anything. the movies just continue where the latter left off

So this movie centers around the hobbit, just like the 3 lotr flicks? fukk that, those hobbits are the most annoying characters ever. Looks like the cgi is better tho.

:usure:

Most people consider Fellowship of the Ring to be the best one.

Sure, it's one story, and less standalone than Ocean movies, but that's like saying that Empire isn't the best Star Wars movie because the original trilogy all goes together.

And before you even bring it up, I looked on Rotten Tomatoes, and Fellowship is actually the lowest ranked (Fellowship - 92; Two Towers - 96; Return of the King - 94)....I don't even care....:yeshrug: The sequels simply have major flaws that Fellowship didn't have (Like Lil Dice said, fukk was up with that RotK ending?) are borderline boring, and ancedotally most people don't fukk with the sequels like that....:youngsabo:

Edit : To be fair, I've never actually seen the extended editions. I've caught parts of them on cable and stuff, but never sat down and watched them all through.

And I'm telling you that the "wizard" is not a sorceror according to your Judeo-Christian standards.

He is Istari, or Maia...a spirit sent to Middle-Earth in the guise of a human by the Creator to help protect and guide the inhabitants therein.

The only difference between Middle-Earth mythology and religious mythology is that Tolkien acknowledged that his works are fictional and does not claim to be inspired by any deity.
JR Tolkien created demonic work im sorry. His work lead friends to play those role playing games where people, some grown men actually take on the persona and image of a demon against other friends in some twisted demonic game. JR Tolken is an inspiration for idol worship. Lord of a ring? I mean really. A ring makes you a god. This is typical idol worshipping nonsense because everyone knows theres only 1 Lord and he doesnt need a darn ring to wipe demons off the earth. I shudder to think how many people look at raggedy trinkets and empower them with thoughts that these worthless objects empower them. Lets steer away from Tolkien like avoiding car accidents, friend.

Once again you display your ignorance.

The role-playing game craze of the 80's was centered around "Dungeons and Dragons" which Tolkien had no hand in creating.

And in the LOTR books and movies, the "ring of power" is considered evil and something that needs to be destroyed. Anybody who covets or "idolizes" the ring is corrupted. In that way, it's a scathing indictment of idolatry and addiction.

Crosses and Christmas trees on the other hand...

But if the ring was never used, he never would have won. Teaches people to use evil as needed but to not overindulge. Sickening. If you dont think D&D and Tokein books went hand in hand as far as influencing RPG players you arent being honest or you were never really around the culture.

:merchant:

Who is this "he" that would never have won?

I don't understand like you're not making any sense. No good character utilizes the ring with victory as a result. One of the Istari aka the "wizard" says in the first movie "The ring is ALTOGETHER evil."

And it doesn't matter if they read LOTR, Chronicles of Narnia, Dune, or A Wrinkle in Time (which wouldn't be surprising if they were fantasy nerds) my point is that D&D is the RPG and Tolkien had no hand in it.
