lol @ ghetto d not being iconic. that's easily the most important album from the south.

they got props from chuck d. great. but i'd be more interesting to hear ho the whole staten island feels, aside from just a guy whose pushing 60 and was already bordlerline out of touch before outkast even came out.

like I said, stop googling quotes and get caught up with whats really going on.

I heard all of outkast albums except idlewild. that's all that matters. I don't have to study their credits. LOL. you sound like youre desperate to make some sort of point.

you guys are over-estimated the reach of scarface. prolly because yall are from the south.

the mainstream loves outkast actually.
as for general rap fans, they don't have outkast. they just don't care about them. theres nothing iconic about that. i'd rather be hated than be a group that's just around.
outkast is like a multi-niche group. they tapped into a bunch of niche audiences and got paid. but they never hit the core.

there was an uproar when prince & Michael Jackson died because mike is the most popular artist ever, and prince is somewhere in the top 10. outkast is not even in the same stratosphere.

how did outkast make pitch-perfect work? theyre one of the groups I'm getting at with this thread actually:
Are We Willing To Admit That Backpack/Conscious/Alternative Rappers Are Graded On A Curve?

you guys are overestimating the reach of scarface.

theres way too many serious rap fans, that are OF AGE that aren't familiar with his music like that.

I'm sorry but that's not iconic. hes like a kool g. rap.
an all-time legend that you can even refer to as a top 10 goat rapper. but NOT an icon.

and I guess I'm tougher on things like this.
I'm not sold on wutang as icons either. the logo is more iconic than they are, if we want to be real. and I'm saying that as someone who is from traditionally the 2nd biggest wutang city.

Ghetto D is not iconic and it is not THE most important album from The South.

60 year old Chuck D is more important to Hip Hop than you or I. He's forgotten more Hip Hop than you could recollect. You become less and less credible with every post with the lengths you go to downplay legends.

Like I said, I quote sources vs. posting conjecture and lies to support an opinion. Why? Because anyone reading the post can easily verify what I'm pisting and it shows that I'm not just posting from my own perspective as if I speak for a collective.

Again, if you aren't familiar with who makes Kast's music, you already prove you not in a position to debate OutKast.

Nobody's iverestimating the reach of Face. Face is a Hip Hop Icon. I dare you to make a thread on it and see how quickly you get laughed out of it. I dare you to debate it with a Hop Hop head and proceed to argue how Master P is a bigger icon all whule attemlting to push a narrative of P being Top 20.

OutKast is more iconic in Hip Hop than Master P, not because I said so, but because this can be backed. Kast is hailed as a GOAT Hip Hop group globally.

ghetto d is the reason that the south is where its at, dummy. its the album that opened the floodgates. if outkast chit was so great, they had 2 albums before that with way more promotion. why couldn't they open the floodgates? niccas down south don't even be on them like yall.

like I said, I care more about what staten islan thinks, then one man who was prolly far-removed from what was going on out here by this time period. I don't care if its chuck d, kool herc, grandwizard Theodore, dj Hollywood, etc get together and throw outkast a surprise party. it changes nothing.

nobody is posting lies to support an opinion. youre just too stuck on google & charts. hip-hop is not an armchair culture. u have this problem in EVERY thread. no matter the topic.

outkast is hailed as a goat hip-hop group by people who stay stuck in the house. theyre the Kendrick lamars of the '90s.

,master p being top 20 is merely an opinion that I stated one time in this thread like 3 weeks ago. why are you even bringing that up right now?

Ghetto D is not the reason why The South is where it is at. Texas, Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia were already on the map by the time Ghetto D dropped. The floodgates were not opened when P dropped that album. Only New Orleans rappers and producers were featured aside from Pimp C and K-Lou producing. After Ghetto D dropped, it was only Silkk, Mystikal, C Murder and Kane & Abel whose careers benefited. After No Limit fell off, Mystikal was a lone wolf. The floodgates in The South didn't open up until 2002-2003 when you had rappers from Kentucky, Mississippi, and an influx of ATL rappers coming up. It continued throughout the '00s with the crunk wave, trap, snap wave, the Houston movement, etc. Then there was also an influx of Southern producers that even had prominent East Coast and West Coast MC's hopping on the beats. On top of it, sctew music and lean culture became huge as well. T.I., Wayne, Ross, and Jeezy became the biggest rappers in the game.

Chuck D's opinion on Hip Hop is still more valid than yours or mine for that matter. OutKast is still more iconic than P. Make a thread on it.

You are in here posting lies. Ghetto D opening the floodgates for The South is a lie.

you have no clue what youre talking about.

the general consumer outside of the south didn't give a f*ck about the rap scenes in any southern city before master p.

lol @ the south not opening up until 2002-03. go sit down.

but before you sit down, ask yourself why outkast didn't open up the floodgates, if theyre such icons.

Again, nothing to support your claim other than conjecture and generalizations. OutKast had two albums that sold over a million copies BEFORE Ghetto D even dropped. Face was platinum. Geto Boys was selling. 2 Live Crew was selling millions and made history while doing it. Yet, the general consumer outside of the South didn't care about rap scenes in any Southern city before Master P :laff:. Your introduction to Southern rap music might've been Ghetto D. That doesn't mean that it's the album that put The South on the map.

Simply put, neither Kast or P opened up "flood gates" in The South. Both put on for their respective cities and states (Kast for Atlanta, GA and P for New Orleans, LA). There were already established markets in the South before Kast or P arrived on the scene. OutKast is iconic because they kept elevating and they helped forge respectability of Southern Hip Hop when people thought one hit wonders (95 South, Tag Team, 69 Boyz), Bass/Booty music was all it had to offer.

my introduction to southern rap music was luke actually.

I'm not even gonna go back-n-forth about this.

youre way too far out-the-loop. you need to go outside. I mean, I apologize if you cant. but if that's the case, you still need to stay in your lane and stick to your strong points. cuz you make a lot of ridiculous posts.......but this one right here takes the cake. I cant even lower myself to go into a back-n-forth about this. and that's says a lot, seeing how I love to argue.

take it easy.

Breh, you have 27K posts. That's more than quadruple the amount of posts I have on here and you're telling me I need to go outside :laff:.

Again, make a thread: Kast vs. P and Face vs. P in terms of who is more iconic.

lol @ this simpleton logic.

I can post from anywhere in a matter of seconds. even if I had 100k posts, I doubt it would put much of a hinderance on my life.

make a poll for what? of course P is gonna lose here. like 70% of the people here are like you. lol. you still don't get IT.

So what are you arguing? You're already saying P would lose a poll on here, but have spent all this time acting as though this was an opinion only held by me. There's people who hold the same opinion offline all over the world.

Anyone with an opinion. I'm positive you've made a claim and somebody disagreed and said you were an outsider because they disagreed with you.

never.:smugfavre:

and I'm not even calling you an outsider, but you think like one.

That's how I know you're delusional. You currently have a thread going and you got posters in there saying you're one of THEM. Tell me I'm lying.
