the fact that I'm a fan, and never saw the video, just proves my point.
does the bolded really sound like a label that was shoved down our throats?
yea but my man tried to say that they were shoved down our throats.![]()
No Limit didn't really get pushed until Ghetto Dope dropped though, after that they took offYou not knowing GC had a video doesn't prove anything. No Limit had a media push just like most of the labels out at the time.
I mean Big Ed's video and both Serv videos didn't look cheap at all, those thangs looked glossyNo Limit didn't really get pushed until Ghetto Dope dropped though, after that they took off
But even still, it was mostly the main artists getting pushed...P, Silkk, C-Murder, and Mia X
It's not like Mr. Serv-On and Big Ed was getting million dollar budgets
wouldn't that go against the narrative that No Limit was force fed to the masses though?I mean Big Ed's video and both Serv videos didn't look cheap at all, those thangs looked glossy
"problem" was always that the video/radio stations couldn't just play NL songs/vids nonstop in 98 or 99 because there were too many. So instead of showing the Ghetto Commission/Steady Mobb'n/Full Blooded videos, you only saw Snoop/Mystikal/Mia X videos. They did play Make Em Say Uhh and Still A G Thang tons of times on radio, but couldn't play another NL tune like Fiend's Take My Pain or Mac's Boss Chick straight after
Baby himself said this in a Source interview in 2000, they HAD to put out less albums (and singles therefore) because radio/video stations
couldn't play all CMR singles/vids all the time
Yup you're correctwouldn't that go against the narrative that No Limit was force fed to the masses though?
Most of the No Limit videos I saw on TV were from the main artists...if I purchased an album from one of the B-squad it's because I was impressed by a verse from them on other albums
I just don't agree with people saying No Limit fans only purchased albums because they were hot...they also had a lot of talent
This is absolute blasphemyHell on earth is overrated trash. DOGG Father and yeaaah baby were better follow ups to a prior classic album
wouldn't that go against the narrative that No Limit was force fed to the masses though?

That's cuz there was so much other good shyt out. We're talking bout the golden years of hip hop (the best years in hip hop) I ain't tryin to hear no b team/c team no limit rappers.Yup you're correct
Most NL "haters" didnt really listen to all those B-team/C-team releases and heard Bossalinie or Made Man which were indeed subpar/bad mostly...so they project that impression on NL's entire discography. xtz23 or mobbinfms are the perfect examples. You think those ignorantd heard Serv's debut, Ghetto Commission's or Mac's albums?
Listening to Holloway (GC), Uzi (Prime Suspects), Gotti (Gambinos), Mac, QB, Popeye, Samm, DIG, sometimes Magic and Serv...nikkas could spit
There's no opinion about it...hell on earth completely shyts on the doggfatherDog father is cool but it ain't fukking with hell on earth. That's just my personal opinion though. I wasn't even old enough to remember when these albums came out but it seems like the general consensus was that dog father sucked.
Hell on earth is forgettable, sorry. This is absolute blasphemy
Doggfather is universally considered a disappointment and Yeah Baby is lowkey trash
Dapped & ReppedPlus who is purchasing $17.99 albums just because?
I think folks try and fit today's climate into yesterday's climate, totally different time
I read these posts and by the posts, and I could tell that some of these posters making these posts about NL were either 5 or 6 years old, or they didn't listen to NL when they dropped CDs, that's why it's hard to even take them serious, when they haven't listened 2 the CD when the CD 1st came out/or were listening to NL around that time, it's hard to take them serious, when they say P wasn't a good rapper, when the dude use to come into the booth and just rap his ass off, no pen or pad, dude was doing that back before anyone that it was cool to do. When NL made their run, thus them not understanding the impact that NL had on the game.
That 97-98 run will never be done again and it was something serious.
No record label had a run like NL
The whole quantity over quality thing is getting tired, simply because I'll ask a poster to put up the "quantity" type albums in that 97-99 run Outta all those albums that dropped in that run, I bet more albums were good/dope. If NL dropped 30 albums in that time frame, 25 were banging.
Name the albums that were down out just wack I can't think of any, I can say some were ok, such as Silk's Made Man, C-Murder's Bossaline,
But I don't recall a "wack" bad album outta that time frame.
Big Ed should have.No Limit didn't really get pushed until Ghetto Dope dropped though, after that they took off
