I'm guessing costumes, music licensing and and the OG real footage they splice in throughout the show.

Timeout..did tou not watch the get down?? Because what @jayshiggs says is right. Costumes, expensive ass sets, the music, the needle drops, real footage of 70s new york, stages, and some of those actors aren't cheap. Baz doesn't skimp on money

Eh, they have only low level FX my G. Definitely no CGI from what I can tell. It's the music costumes and sets mainly.
And I can't front they are all great.
