I’m not knocking Lebron’s “when he feels engaged” lazy defensive style but unequivocally “NO” he is not a better defender than MJ.

Why do you people act like MJ and Kobe were 100% engaged defenders their entire careers?

The way people talk about Bron defense nowadays is ridiculous. 37 years old with 60,000 minutes playing playing center but still expected to be a lockdown defender. He plays on a terrible defensive team that lacks wings and bigs. The guy is still a playmaker on defense.

Anyone who thinks Kobe is a better overall defender than LeBron doesn’t know shyt about basketball or evaluating defense.

LeBron off sheer versatility alone of positions and play types he can guard is better.

LeBron is still one of the top defensive playmakers in the game based on his charges drawn and stocks (steals+blocks) this season. Kobe was terrible defensively his last years in the league.

Both in their primes LeBron clearly peaked higher as a multi time DPoY runner-up and a defensive anchor type player as a wing.

Even Kawhi Leonard’s defensive workload dropped off considerably once he became a dominant scorer and after his injuries.

I never argued that Bron is not a good defender, I said MJ was a better defender than him. When Bron is engaged he is very impactful on that end.
