HOLY CRAP! The Francis Scott Key Bridge has collapsed after a ship collision in Baltimore. The 1,200 feet (366 m) span bridge was the third longest span of any continuous truss in the world.

2) my god— The Francis Scott Key bridge is one of the main highways that forms the beltway of Baltimore. The collapse has been called a mass casualty incident and it is unknown at this time how many vehicles may have been on the bridge at the time of the collision & collapse.

3) Multiple vehicles have fallen into the water. This is not a small bridge folks - it’s one of the largest truss bridges in the world - and facilitates much of the flow of shipping in the port of Baltimore - which is now likely toast for a while.

4) Key Bridge’s sudden collapse is gonna be devastating— it sit at a choke point for major container ship traffic. Total bridge length is 9000 feet - you can’t fix this bridge overnight.

5) It is believed that collision was caused by a 300 meter long cargo ship from Singapore called Dali. It recently visited New York and Norfolk prior to Baltimore, after passing through the Panama Canal.

6) Another closer video of the Key bridge collapse. My god. #FrancisScottKeyBridge

7) this collapse video makes me cry so much as a former Baltimore resident who has traveled this bridge many times.
8/14
8) Pray for the construction workers who were on the bridge at time of collapse. There are also reports the Singapore cargo vessel also has a hull breach as result of the collision.

BREAKING: Up to 20 construction workers on Baltimore bridge when it collapsed, according to fire crews. Search underway

9) why the hell is the NYTimes calling this just a mere “partial collapse”? Like - the main key truss of the bridge with the highest point that allows ships to pass under it fully collapsed. Why is NYT full of downplaying headline writers? The bridge’s truss is fully collapsed.
10/14
10) NYT now acknowledges the Key Bridge is not a mere “partial collapse” anymore. That’s because the entire TRUSS of the bridge is fully collapsed. And the port of Baltimore is now in deep deep trouble. This will impede almost all shipping into the port. Pray for also survivors.
11/14
11) Historical footnote—Its namesake, Francis Scott Key, is believed to have sat near the site of this bridge as he witnessed the bombardment of Fort McHenry in 1814 (‘the bombs bursting in air’), inspiring him to write the "Star Spangled Banner”, our national anthem.

12) Folks - let’s please don’t be a conspiracy theorist so easily. The top video of the bridge collapse is from a stationary camera of shipping channel that continually live streams. All major waterways with major shipping have this.
13/14
13) This is a humongous bridge! You can’t quite appreciate the size of the bridge unless you drive on it - or watch this video. It’s a legendary mega beast of a truss bridge!!! That’s why the collapse is so insane.

14) Container ship that crashed into the bridge is owned by Star Bulk Carriers Corp. their stock has dropped already in pre market trading. Meantime… recent large trading of this stock by leading GOP obstructionist Senator @SenTuberville @TTuberville. Karma.
