So it's the stat itself it seems?:patrice:

Now, I believe Floyd is Top 5 DOA in defense as well, but statistics wise, he's not the best today....it's Guillermo Rigondeaux who allows a 16% connect rate on him for his career while Floyd allows an 18% connect rate for his career (as recent as 12/2013 via compubox http://compuboxonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/CompuBoxLeaders_Dec2014.pdf).

Defense takes into account not allowing your opponent to hit you, but also your competition (which Floyd has faced great comp) and the punches you can sustain (considering Floyd has never been officially knocked down in his career, I would give him the edge over mostly everyone because his chin is strong and a body shot hasnt taken him down either)

I am :whoa: on this though, because it's a slippery slope. Going by opponents connection pct to use as a basis for calling someone the greatest, you'd also have to go by total connect pct landed on opponents...which means the top 9 best offensive boxers today are in order Floyd, JCC Jr, Alvarez, Ward, LSC, Khan, Agbeko, Lara, and Lamont Peterson and the most COMPLETE boxers today (+/- on punches landed for them vs landed on them) are Floyd, LSC, Lara, Ward, Canelo, Rigo, Wlad, and Moreno. I dont think anyone would stand behind that statement, but it cant be 1 way without the other:yeshrug:

Numbers don't tell the whole story, but you when got the numbers to go with the intangible things like adjustments, longevity, it says a lot

regardless of compettion, the best fighters floyd face connect percentage are around worst fighters he faced, that type of consistency cannot be denied

I think it was vs. hernandez Floyd 64 percent of his punches majority power shots and herndanez only landed 18 percent of his entire punch total, that shyt is retarded I don't care who it is your fighting, that is crazy

also when you watch tape you just see a different level of command, floyd really know what he doing

why you think everybody who try to shoulder roll can't do it, Oscar tried against Vargas and was getting tagged along the ropes, broner we all seen what happened, they don't think fast enough to use effectively and they don't know how to throw punches off roll

I agree. Floyd's defense is elite.

Brings up #s to back his Floyd stanning

Newzz brings up Rigo has and even lower connect %

:whoa: numbers don't tell the whole story

:heh:

what, Floyd's numbers are still better than Rigo because he has had way more fights

numbers don't tell the whole story because they don't

you add in the numbers with what you see on tape

This is the best part. "regardless of competition". In that case, Edwin Valero is not only the greatest offensive fighter of all time, but the greatest fighter of all time.

Yep.

That's why I tried to warn like:

Basically, if "regardless of competition", Floyd's connect allowed pct makes him the GOAT...then the rest of the list has to apply as well for everyone else:youngsabo:

LSC is the 2nd most complete boxer today behind Floyd:ohlawd:

"Regardless of competition" also made Chris Algieri a more than worthy opponent. If Jessie Vargas is next for Manny? Thats 3 straight undefeated fighters in a row.:takedat::wow::whoo::whew::ohlawd: Then you factor in hes doing this after being knocked the fukk out!! 4 fights against 4 guys who have a grand total of 1 loss!:lawd:Manny Gawdquiao:win:

Regardless of competition, when Manny faced them, Tim Bradley and Chris Algieri were undefeated, just like Jessie Vargas. No matter who they faced, they won every single fight.

And, what does that have to do with anything where not talking about manny

we're talking about defensive fighters, which manny isn't

this is why I have no respect for your intellect becasue you are an idiot, you have no idea what you're talking about it is impossible to talk boxing with

When I said regardless in competition it was in regards to, in layman's terms for your simple ass

No matter if was a hall of famer, a champion, or anybody lesser, the percentages were around the same, which is a testament to his defensive skill, it doesn't matter how good the opponent is, his defense is impregnable
