Aw snap. We got a book thread.

One recommendation for you guys. City of Thieves by David Benioff. Absolutely fantastic read. You won't be able to put it down. It is written by the author and screenwriter of The 25th Hour. He's also a writer and co-creator of the Game of Thrones tv series.

Here's a short synopsis

Funny, tense, thrilling. Book is just great, brehs. Check that shyt out and enjoy.

:win:

great book. thanks for the suggestion. entertaining from beginning to end

i thought about getting 25th hour next but i'm not sure since i've seen the movie.

trying to choose between the book thief, the gunslinger, the stand and chronic city.

Glad you enjoyed it, brotha. The Stand is messed up but long as fuuuuck. I read it and the comic based on it though. Good stuff. The Gunslinger, I feel, is a bit overrated, but still a good enough read.

My favorite author of all time is Dean Koontz. I feel like he's popular, but a lot of people sleep on some of his shyt. My favorite book of all time is Watchers by him. If you love dogs, there will be scenes you're reading that will have you like :to:

Seriously, just a fantastic story and probably his most well put together novel. Everything flows so smoothly. The first Koontz book I read and my 2nd favorite is Strangers. A bit longer, but it is so good. If you appreciate interconnected stories that weave in and out of each other, go with Strangers. The end is a bit of a mindfukk, and I sometimes just like going back and reading the final 50 pages or so.

Now that I think about it...I might like that more than Watchers...

I dunno.

Possibly you should start with Velocity though. One of the most intense books I've ever read. I don't really feel like describing it, but the book cover right here can pretty much lay it all down on the line. A note that the main character found on his car's windshield.

Book is so :ahh:

And one last one is The Taking. One of the more fukked up things I've ever read. Its not as polished as some of the other ones, but its a short read. I sat down in the morning and literally read that book the whole day. Its another one of his stories where dogs take a prominent place in the story. Just a nice, creepy read.

So...yeah. Enjoy the piff. :salute:

I haven't read anything in a while now. I was hoping that a novel of the movie Prometheus would've been out by now.

We were prepared for an earthquake. We had a flood plan in place. We could even have dealt with zombies. Probably. But no one expected the end to be quite so . . . sticky. Or strawberry scented. Yahtzee Croshaw (Mogworld, The Escapist's Zero Punctuation Reviews (tm)) returns to print with a follow-up to his smash-hit debut: Jam, a dark comedy about the one apocalypse no one predicted.
