Anyway I don't think it has the same word of mouth as the first one. And it's competition in following weeks was tougher. It'll probably cross the 400 million domestic number today tho so they're still eating but it's not as much as an event as the first one and not as loved critically I guess

And lol @ making this thread when you know damn well that FF7 got a month's worth of advantage (yet Avengers 2 has already passed its domestic gross) and it's only just begun making waves in some foreign territories.

So maybe we're being 'shockingly' quiet because this comparison makes no sense yet.

Or because nobody cares about box office comparisons as much as some people do when they think it proves a point about the quality of a movie (hello billion dollar Transformers movies and hello Avatar!).

as crazy as it sounds avengers 2 didn't perform like I thought it would. i was pretty certain it would outgross the first one. can't believe it didn't.

Star Wars will beat it for sure.

I straight up predicated it would make 2 billion. Im kinda shocked at it not too doing hot. I mean yeah the reviews and word of mouth aint as strong but it isnt bad either.

I think people under estimated the competition. I remember people saying it had zero competition until june when jurassic world was dropping and that it was gonna clean up all month. But that didnt happen.

I think it ends with 1.350 Billion.

yea, everyone.

phantom menace was a flaming pile of dogshyt and it dominated at the box office. the hype for this will be even bigger.

that whole generation who loved star wars is still alive and well. everyone who showed up for TPM will show up for TFA, plus the legions of star wars fans that hopped on the bandwagon these last 10-15 years.

the only way it doesn't become the #1 movie of the year is if it's absolutely terrible. if it's good or great, it will destroy.

@Ed MOTHEREFFING G I think Age of Ultron will probably end up passing Furious 7 in the long run but it's important to note (as you did) that Furious 7 is not available in IMAX/3D in North America and I respect that they didn't because all 3D is pretty much a bullshyt cash grab. Only specific films are filmed in 3D.
