Yes but you can do both, if we agree that very large majority of poor black people are not committing crimes then we can agree to punish the small percentage that commit “violent” crimes. At the same time working to eliminate the economic reasons for poverty.

I don't believe we should be sentencing anyone to life in prison no matter their color, but that's just my person feelings. There are much better ways to handle that shyt, and if it's people who just truly can't be part of society I don't think treating them like animals is the answer either but we should keep them away from the public. At the same time I also don't believe we should encourage sending more black people into a prison system that has been weaponized against us for almost half a century now.

So I'd much rather focus on structural change than hitting more black people especially young black people with life sentences.

Funny how much easier it is to just throw nikkas in jail forever than to, ya know, actually give us a fair chance to succeed. Youre exactly right. The problems stared long before we got here, are systemic and persistent because its by design. If the origin of the problem isnt eradicated (poverty and the abattoir of capitalism churning out people with nothing to live for) it will continue to occur.

However, Ill ask you the million dollar question that Progressive Politics can never answer in a satisfying way......

While we wait on this mysterious change figure and legislation/revolution that will enact massive systemic change (which in order to happen would have to get magnitude upon magnitude of competing parties and interests to work together)....

I think most people want the best for society as a whole. The problem with progressive stances is that your asking people to behave in a idealistic, communal fashion for long term solutions that arent instantly manifesting. Its the way things should be, mind you, but you wont get people on your side with something that doesnt attempt to provide short term results when the issue concerns safety and livelihood.

I agree 100%. I don't feel like I was overreacting when I mentioned mandatory minimums or death. I understand why people would feel a certain about me speaking death on a generation but many are just not redeemable.
