Eh realism is overrated. There's no such concept in film anymore. A good movie is a good movie
it was a good movie just over the top in some aspects

What was fabricated and over the top? Idk the true story of Lucas too well
Richie Roberts is portrayed in the film in a custody battle while in real life he never had a child
Lucas was never the right hand man of Bumpy Johnson
and Nicky Barnes was way more powerful than him and is portrayed as a small goon in the film
Sterling Johnson, Jr., a federal judge who served as a special narcotics prosecutor and assisted the arrest and trial of Lucas, described the film as "one percent reality and ninety-nine percent Hollywood." In addition, Johnson described the real life Lucas as "illiterate, vicious, violent, and everything Denzel Washington was not"
this is my feeling too.I think The Departed is pretty wildly overrated. But I also think it's definitely better than Internal Affairs.
It "ripped off" the core story...but it did it much better imo.
Cac shyt right there. "Lets just throw that in there so we can spend more time caccin' it up"Richie Roberts is portrayed in the film in a custody battle while in real life he never had a child
thats exactly what happened.Cac shyt right there. "Lets just throw that in there so we can spend more time caccin' it up"
thats exactly what happened.
A lot of people came to see a film about Denzel Washington playing Frank Lucas and just swag surfing, but we ended up with a movie about Russell Crowe playing Richie Roberts and taking Lucas down, and the other stuff in his life.
Roberts was not the prosecutor in Lucas' trial either.
couldve been the black godfather but it got all cac'd up. Its a damn shame.
