Nicholson gave nothing to the film beyond his name, imo. He was chewing up scenery doing "Jack" the whole time. Everyone else in the film was pretty great though :obama:

I only call it overrated because of threads like this with the "definitely a classic" shyt thrown around. It got a lot of love and earned Scorsese his first directing Oscar, but I think he has several films better. Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Mean Streets are all definitely better imo. The Departed is more inline with Gangs Of New York, Cape Fear & The King of Comedy....his "second tier" movies....obviously this is all subjective.

I agree with this, though I think the Departed is like 1.5 tier if that makes any sense. It def one of the best movies of the past decade though.

:pacspit: @ anybody who thought the departed was wack

and a triple :pacspit: @ anybody who references "internal affairs"...stfu you hipster fanboys, we get it...departed storyline was taken from a asian movie's script....although it dont mean shyt to me because none of them can come close to the acting of dicaprio, damon, whalberg, or sheen....fakkits...

i swear coming into this thread, its the first time i ever seen anyone hate on the departed and its making me want to stab each poster in this thread on the neck and :pacspit: on ya fukking corpes, that movie is the shyt fukk all of ya

Basterds >>>>>>>>>>

It's every bit as great as Pulp Fiction imo.

True story. The scene at the beginning where Hans convinces the guy into giving up the jews :wow:

But The Departed was still pretty good. Wahlberg refusing to give up th names of his UCs is hilarious. "Maybe I do. Maybe I don't. Maybe go fukk yourself."
