King apparently hated the way Kubrick stripped his original story and added his own elements

I said it earlier in this thread, but Stephen King's writing is all over the place. I really don't understand how people find him to be such a great author. His ideas for stories are dope, but his execution is pretty terrible. I didn't read The Shining, but I bet Kubrick fixed all the problems with King's writing since the movie is a classic.

I actually liked it a lot fam :yeshrug:

first off, fukk the critics. this was a good movie. :blessed:

I was a big fan of the books and while this flick wasn't overly faithful to the source material, the whole point of the book series is that there are different realities. Stephen King actually went back and edited them shyts and made some changes to the original story mad years after the fact. :manny:

second of all, Idris Elba was amazing, my mans really did his thing. :jawalrus:
Matthew McConaghey was good too. :ehh:

third of all, I think a lot of the critics and others hating on the movie are hating because they casted Idris as Roland. I bet they wouldn't have said shyt if he was cast as the bad guy. :martin: but hey, what do I know.
however I would like to say that it's possible for a Black actor to play a character in which their Blackness is not integral to who the character is. It's really okay Hollywood and assembled white people. Idris was the best possible Roland there could be in my opinion. I know in the books Roland is kind of this Clint Eastwood type character but Idris was a better Roland than Clint in his prime could ever be. :sas2:

anyways I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Thats why I didnt want to jump the gun and wanted to ask b/c its no way you can read multiple SK books and say what he said. The Dark Tower is his magnum opus and connects all of his books in one story. SK books might have you confused at first but the way he ties all of that shyt up is straight genius. Even his short stories are fukkin nuts. Tell me this shyt don't creep you the fukk out.

Most of his books cant be a film they need to be a series. There is no way to fit his stories in a film and get it all. The Dark Tower needs to be a series with multiple seasons. They need to do a series on the Talisman also. That would be dope also.

I've read the first book of The Dark Tower (didn't like it), 11/22/63 (enjoyed it, but it took awhile for me to get into it) and Under the Dome (good concept, but hated how the story played out). I just don't like his writing :yeshrug:
Read The Drawing of The Three and you'll see what he's doing. You can't stop at The Gunslinger and expect to get answers. Like I said all of his books connect to this story in one way or the other. Remember what he said to Jake as he fell and died.
"There Are Other Worlds Than These"

You have to read his other books also to appreciate the easter eggs being dropped but you can research it and see.

To each its own i guess. Try the Talisman or The Stand. Great books. I've read alot of his books twice and the great ones multiple times
