It was the shooting and the media hyping up movie violence . I work With families and even my friends were shook and I live in NYC :yeshrug: it's hard to get good word of mouth when the shooting is tied to it
Once i saw the media reports bout do movies like tdk promote violence I knew it was going to get Hurt . And the guy was trolling how does dying your hair ref like the joker dressed as a nurse in tdk make any sense ? He was just a nerdy attention seeking troll .

If anything, the shooting brought more attention to it. After The Avengers, it was already losing steam as the "Must See" movie of the summer. You really think that the shooting had THAT much of an impact? Y'all act like you never heard of somebody getting shot at the movie theater (no disrespect to the victims or families..because it was still a tragedy).

The studio didn't pull the movie for the weekend, so that right there goes to show they were confident it wouldn't affect their bottom line. Also, once people found out the plot, the interest was EHHHHH. Who is REALLY interested in Bane?

I forgot about that shyt. But didn't Danny Elfman do the soundtrack, he just happened to have a bunch of Prince tracks that he selected?
Elfman did the score, yeah, but the actual soundtrack sold in stores was a straight up Prince album

Batman is the eleventh studio album by musician Prince and the soundtrack for the 1989 film Batman. As a Warner Bros. stablemate, Prince's involvement in the soundtrack was designed to leverage the media company's contract-bound talent as well as fulfill the artist's need for a commercial (if not critical) revival. The result was yet another multi-platinum successful cross-media enterprise by Warner Bros., in the vein of Purple Rain. The album was placed #1 on Billboard's album chart for six consecutive weeks. It sold nearly three million copies in the United States alone.

I remember when I was a little kid my uncle had the album and I used to bump the shyt out of it whenever I came over, Electric Chair >>>>>

The only way to prove you trolls wrong who say that the shooting didn't have a major effect on this film's gross is to go back in time and prevent the shooting from happening.

As much as I'd love to do that, I can't.

But you also can't say that it did. They didn't pull any showings that weekend. Advance tickets are already accounted for and between the midnight showing when it happened and maybe last matinee, it's not like they completely closed the theater for the day. The only thing they did was pull TV adverts, but look at the press and Christian Bale even showing up compensates for that.

The movie already lost steam going in

:wtf:

If even one person didn't go see the film because of the shooting, which is both undeniable and and obviously low, then the box office was lower. Period.

How much lower is impossible to know, but to say it didn't have an impact is obvious trolling.

Batman in 89 was a wayyyyyyyy bigger event than this Batman.

Word. that movie had people rocking batman gear....I remember those batman converse joints, everybody had those.....had me and a bunch of other kids wrapping towels around our neck trying to be batman.....that movie was probably my favorite experience in a theater ever....TMNT 1 a close second.

fukk this thread. It was the shooting. I have family members still shook to take their kids to watch it 3-4 weeks after the opening. Some theaters were closed that day because of the shooting too
