Factor in the biggest mass shooting in US history connected with this film... then factor in the lack of 3-D.

And yet it STILL managed one of the biggest opening weekends ever, is STILL the second highest grossing film worldwide this year, and STILL is poised to pass the 1 billion dollar mark worldwide.

I'm just glad it didn't flop. :whew:

Avengers beat both batman movies there homie. :win:

And like I've said before...Avengers had 3-D and Avengers didn't open with the BIGGEST MASS SHOOTING IN US HISTORY.

I mean, come on. Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man? The Hulk? 3-D? Fans from all the Marvel movies leading up to it?

And it still made less than 50 million more than the Dark Knight Rises opening weekend. :youngsabo:

Had the shooting not happened we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Just about everyone here can name people they PERSONALLY KNOW who were too shook to go see TDKR in theaters. Had those people went to go see it, it would've exceeded Avengers in tickets sold and probably even gross. So FOH. :pacspit:

That's not my point....

...but while it definitely played a role, the hype for The Dark Knight Knight lasted much longer than it did for TDKR. People were buzzing about Ledger's performance for months (for more reasons than the performance itself obviously), the buzz for TDKR has essentially died off by this point

TDK was just a better movie IMO:manny:

I felt like TDKR was a few notches below.

Still good in it's on right, but the epicness didn't reach Dark Knight levels.

I watched TDK for the first time in about 2 years, 2 days after going to see TDKR.

TDK still seemed fresher. It felt like TDKR came out in '08 and TDK was the new release

I know it's some folks on here who swears by TDKR, but that's just how I feel personally. Not knocking it at all
