I've just never been in a SUV and thought to myself "Column Shifter"
Eh, lots of people wouldn't think twice about it. Its a simple control interface that an untrained monkey can operate...maybe that's the reason they still use it. Still doesn't belong in the Escalade/ Yukon Denali....Suburban/Tahoe, maybe. It's a peeve of mine, tho. Details like that irk me....like the useless headrests in the back of crew cab GM trucks. They won't stay in a raised position and the occupant's head will go thru the rear window if the truck has been rear-ended. The seat backs are also too short for adults....been like that for at least 3 generations. Ford, Ram, Toyota, Nissan all have high seat backs with large headrests for adults. One of several reasons why I wouldn't buy a GM truck even though a GMC Sierra Denali is the best looking truck in my opinion.
