I think it's basically young athletically gifted man keeps floundering because he lets his cockiness get in the way, until he gets that cockiness "humbled" out of him :mjpls: , and that's when he starts winning and reaching his potential..

Hmm wouldn't that upend a lot of his catchphrases and persona like "Melo don't miss" and the Barbershop talks and hanging jerseys in the rafters etc?

I understand Melo's booking as being the young guy that keeps overstepping his boundaries and gets humbled on the big stage. At least he is getting quality tv time against good vets and looking good in the ring. They eventually need to give him a solid feud against a quality mid carder again because he can sell the crowd as a heel already.

it's all contextual, in nxt he was the big fish in a small pond and even then, he didn't become "the man" there by himself, he had trick helping him.. I imagine they're gonna switch up the "Melo don't miss" stuff to mean like he takes small losses,, but when it comes to the big picture stuff like main eventing mania or winning the wwe title he don't miss..

I wouldn't be surprised if he stays in the place he's in right now until mitb season or when trick gets called up but we'll see..!

Makes you wonder what Hunter originally had planned for the Melo Lashley program that was replaced by the best of 7.

Was Lashley supposed to contend for the US title?

Was Melo supposed to be humbled way, way earlier or would they have Melo go over Lashley.

Is Bron Breakker not the young guy overstepping his boundaries... why hasn't he been "humbled" yet?

Melo been wrestling for years and Bron literally just started. The premise of the storyline makes sense until you compare how two men who were looked at as equals in NXT are treated on the main roster
