Be mad at comic book movies that tell jokes brehs
Never read any issue of a Marvel comic book brehs
THIS... What the fukk? What comic book didn't have corny jokes and silly shyt going on. They were fukking COMIC books. They really didn't start on this "dark, gritty" tip until the 90s and even then, it was only certain series. It wasn't graphic novel time, 100% of time.. And even in graphic novels, they still have a shytload of corny ass jokes

Doesn't ruin it, but the humor seems forced and/or misplaced. But I realize they're going for broader appeal.

The humor DID totally ruin Age of Ultron for me. And although the absence of the cringy humor in Captain Marvel couldn't have saved that film, but it reduced Nick Fury to jokes. Same for Ironman 3.

The thing to note however is Marvel/MCU is not letting great be the enemy of good. I also realize this is why most MCU movies are just B grade to me (Ironman, Infinity War, Winter Soldier and maybe Ragnarok being the exceptions). They are going for the broadest appeal and not necessarily the best story. They prefer consistency over potentially having great films.

The irony is, great films tend not to play well with universe building from multiple directors. They generally don't let directors put too much of their stamp on the film. They keep the dialogue and by proxy the humor basic. The color pallette is the same across all movies. They blatantly "borrow" tropes from other films that have already proven themselves. All directors borrow, so I'm not tripping.

But to those ends, I still applaud MCU because they have done something not even Star Wars has done; made a good, complex multi-movie franchise universe. I just don't expect greatness from the MCU. Just good. And that's alright, I can be happy with good.
It's fukking Disney.. People are really lucky we get half the violence and adult shyt we get. It's fukking DISNEY. Out of 40 or so projects, at least 10 should be a hard R rating. Disney giving us ZERO. Its fukking Disney. When these characters were given to Netflix and Fox and they put it out, we got R rated shyt, still with shytty jokes, but more raw comic shyt... But again...........

It's fukking Disney.

I think everything you said, is pretty much held back by Disney execs. They do have to control multiple films, so they can't let Director A go ham with a great story. They need Disney to approve it first.. And they need it to fit perfectly in the story with the other 39 projects. They can't have gritty Wolvy killing and cussing... then come to Thor's world and be saying darn and not stabbing nikkas.

I don't know if you're agreeing or disagreeing. I'm not disappointed, they're solid films. I give them credit for doing what they've been doing. I just don't expect a Dark Knight out of them because they prefer consistency over greatness.

Comic movies can evolve into something more profound. It doesn't have to keep being the same formulaic bullshyt over & over again. That's why I loved Logan.Wasn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, but still shyts on anything Marvel ever put out imo.

Winter Soldier
Iron Man
GOTG
Infinity War

Far as Marvel flicks I've enjoyed so far.I'd probably throw the latest Spidey flick in there, to.That & Black Panther are probably the two best movies they've dropped since CA Winter Soldier.

I was agreeing with everything really. Just summing it up with what I think the "problem" is... Disney. Now on one hand they have done an amazing job. To have 40 (I'm just making up a number, they probably have more) different things going on and they ALL connect... That's fukking insane when you think about it. How many people you have to get together to make that happen. How many contracts and writers and directors and actors to pull it off. And that's just to pull it off. That's not even counting being record breakingly successful for 20 years while doing it. Just look at DC. They can't even get it off the ground and they was successful since Batman the tv show in the 60s.

But what makes it great is also what's putting a ceiling on it. Having to connect everything doesn't allow for standalones like DC is doing. Disney got the money but they don't have the balls to go R rated for a good portion of it. They won't risk giving a character his own movie at this point. His own story. It's GOT to be connected and therefore they GOT to bring in the fans of the other movies so it's going to be PG-13.

The mutants should bring in a whole new angle. But it'll be more of the same unless they can break out this Universe or at least give adults a section of it. We'll see what they do with Blade

100% it's Disney. I give all credit to Feige for getting this far. I think he understands the characters and stories well enough yet he knows just what he has to compromise artistically to continue to make these films box office mojo.

I refuse to believe writers, directors and actors this talented would consistently put this same blueprint out. Some people would say its formulaic, but I won't because that would indicate bad. I'm going to call it consistent. I just generally know what beats and quality I'm going to get film to film. If it makes dollars, it makes sense. Let's just hope for more Ironman's than Captain Marvel's.

This video almost sums up how I feel.

Moon Knight was a decent step in terms of being a standalone project. The first in awhile.

And I do think DS2 was definitely preparing the audience for more adult themes. Not a kids movie whatsoever

The internet is never happy with anything. Period

They also think they are the majority opinion and they are not. If I had multiple billion dollar movies I’m not listening to a small sub section of the internet on what they think is wrong with my movies.
