Thank you fam!

Don’t mean to double post, but I’m a business admin major looking to get into the business analyst career. I was hoping someone who is one could point me in the right direction.

I’m also looking to move to Dallas, Houston, or Atl which would be the best spot for that work?

Made my first post on this thread earlier this year. Only have 2 classes left until I get my bachelors. First one in my family and I finally get to live somewhere that’s not in poverty :wow:

Good stuff breh.

Graduated in May from a top 5 school, zero job prospects.

No one is hiring rn. Had leads go cold. Had someone tell me that I’ll never get hired for what I’m worth since I didn’t get an internship while in college. It’s like the degree I worked so hard for is null and void.

It’s crazy seeing people you graduated with you already making 6 figures when you can’t even get a response from an application. These companies do fukk shyt too, like interview you and say they found someone or you don’t qualify only to repost the job application the next day or make some LinkedIn post about how they’re looking for 20+ new hires.

Hell, I got rejected 5 mins after a 2nd round interview because they already had a person in mind before they interviewed me.

Shyt sucks, game is rigged - it’s all about the people you know. I didn’t have anybody in my ear telling me what I should’ve been doing in college :snoop:

Idk if I don’t get hired in 6-8 months I’m going into the military, at least I’ll be doing something and I’ll have health insurance

Recognize you're in the midst of a pandemic though. It's tough out there if you have connections or not. Keep applying, revise your resume, the right opportunity will come along.

I'm bout to drop out, my film business taking off enough at this point that school is in the way :wow: It's been a solid 2.5 years of higher education, made the best grades I ever got in my life the first 4 semesters and I was able to network enough to kickstart my business plan. I might finish school in a couple years, in reality though I don't need no degree to be in my field so if I did go back it would probably be for a different major.

I’m the same major as you, try hospitals or banks if you haven’t. Also try sending in a couple cover letters with your resume to see if it change the game for you.
I have a few diff cover letters templates I use with my resume.

What positions have you looked for in hospitals and banks?

Analyst jobs are usually good bet(Financial, business, etc)
The IT jobs
Or I’ll go on LinkedIn and type in business in the search engine hella results come up. I usually go by industry. I say hospitals are a good look since they’re needed more than ever and you won’t be out a job. Plus the fine nurses and drs that’ll you’ll be around.

shyt even nba teams are looking for people with business degrees they’re on LinkedIn.

A dope website I found is something called Zippia.com you tell them what degree you have and they filter jobs that’s looking for just that :wow:

Either you apply as a transfer student (so your completed credits transfer over) or you apply as a new applicant.

If your 1st semester GPA wasn't great, I recommend doing a semester at a CC to bring it up, in general though you're in a good position to go back to school because it's been 5+ years since your first attempt. If you're trying to go back to the school you went to before and you flunked out the first time, academic forgiveness typically requires 5 years to have passed since you were dropped from the program to apply again. You would have to speak to your maturation between then and now on the application but otherwise, it's pretty easy to get back in. The only catch is that they'll have you on academic probation until you bring your GPA to a minimum of a 2.0 (C average), if your grades fall below that bar while you're on probation then they'll rescind their acceptance.

If your GPA is good, you should have no issues doing a transfer student application other than the usual competitiveness that certain schools have. Do you know the major you're looking at? Targeting a school because of a specific major/program they offer will increase your chances of getting in.

yeah I think I may need to go the cc route for a semester. I have less than 12 credits and less than a 2.0 so transfer option is only after cc.
You said I can apply as a true freshman? I would have to report my previous transcripts still if I go that route?

I flunked out the first time I attempted college as well, I transferred to SF State 5 years after failing my 1st college attempt with a 1.66 GPA (22 credits). I had originally planned to do the CC route since CCSF was tuition-free but I applied to SF State on a whim to see if they would let me in... to my surprise they did :leon: so I didn't end up attending CCSF. I was on academic probation for the 1st two semesters, I got a 2.95 the first semester which brought my cumulative GPA up to a 1.95, followed by a 3.95 my 2nd semester which brought it up to a 2.5, at which point I was fully admitted.

If the university you're looking at is tens of thousands of dollars a semester though then I would still strongly recommend doing your core classes at a CC first (as long as you make sure that they're transferrable to the 4 year university) so you only end up paying for 2 years instead of 4. If you don't know what you want to major in then the CC route will allow you to try a lot of different things without spending a lot of money in the process. At the same time, you won't get a "college" experience at a CC if you're looking for that... most people are commuter students and they work around the clock. SF State has a lot of that too (I was one of those people commuting and working nonstop) but the networking opportunities for my major were good enough to make it worth it.

To answer your question though, if you're interested in the first school you went to then I would report your transcript and petition for academic forgiveness. One of the reasons to go back to the same school you went to is that if you're readmitted, you're typically given the option to retake the classes you failed the first time and then they'll wipe your previous grades off your transcript, which is a much quicker way to raise your GPA. You can always transfer to somewhere else after you fix your grades.
