We graduated :blessed::blessed::blessed::blessed::blessed:

Took awhile didn't know I'd ever make it but I got it done :mjcry:

Now I have to find a job. I've been on indeed and other site for the last two months but haven't had any luck. Now that I have my degree, B.S. Mechanical Engineering, I hope that will change. I'm going to reapply for the Navy Depo around me and for the state and hopefully I can get my foot in the door at one of those places.

How good at maths do you need to be at maths to work in Econ/Finance or in a Bank?

My Major next year is in International Relations but would like to get work in a more financial job or study at a masters level.

I have an interest in personal finance etc but my maths is slightly below avg. Always been a D student but I’m willing to work on it.

Short Answer: It depends.

Longer Answer: It depends on which field within Econ/Finance or a bank. You don’t have to be a guru in math, but you do have to be relatively comfortable with numbers. Essentially, you have to be able to spot when the numbers just don’t make sense. Statistics/Econometrics would probably be a better math courses to take. Those are probably the most useful.

For some professions e.g. Quantitative trading, HF Trading, you would definitely need to be airtight with might. That and you’d want some coding/computer science knowledge as well.

But for most Analyst type roles, you just have to be at good spotting trends and answering what could be driving the numbers.

I work as a business analyst now and did Econ in college. Was never the best at math but tbf, I didn’t try as hard as I could sometimes. Feel free to ask me any questions you have.

EDIT: If it you're up to it, it may make sense to try to get a CFA. It'll expose you to a lot of the knowledge that would be required to function as say an equity analyst etc.

Appreciate the answer man , rep on sight once my reps back.

I have a genuine interest in personal finance and wouldnt mind maybe working with that.

I’ve looked into Risk Analysts? I would be more interested in analyst jobs than the high flying trading shyt

Been pretty quiet in here this semester. How's everybody's classes going? I got about two more weeks left before summer break, thank God :francis:

Right now I'm in a good position to get all A's again, but three of those A's could turn into B's depending on finals. Either way, I'm doing better than I did in high school. It really is better for some people to go to college later when they're older and more focused.

Anyway, good luck with ya'll finals if you haven't taken it already. Summer is around the corner:salute:
