Need everyone assistance:

I have a Dell Inspiron 14, that I have had for less than 2 yrs. I bought it knowing I wasn't going to put pics, movies, videos or anything like that, just simple browsing. It was less than $250. I start grad school next month, however; I cant put the newest Microsoftupdates because I need 8gb and only have 5 gb free space. So should I rock with it longer since I will only be using it to write papers (already have Microsoftoffice on it) or should I get a better laptop that has more than 32gb. I don't really want to get a new laptop because I need new tires, want to get a new phone, have books for grad school that I still need to get but I figured what's another $400? I've done all Ican to free up space and it doesn't give me an optionto use my portable drive for the Microsoft update

Google Drive breh. Bump Microsoft word use Google docs, sheets and slides. And drive is cloud space. Make sure to have offline access. I don't know how much space you will need but it will be worth it.

What u need Microsoft updates for? Just free up the space. Dump everything u don't need physically on the computer into Google drive. And then make the updates.

Dump what into Google drive? I don't have vids, pics, or documents on my laptop, I got rid of bloatware, all I have is office, chrome, and my antivirus. I don't have enough space to get the updates, nothing else to move or uninstall unless I do drivers etc which would mess my computer up

Just take it to someone that can install a bigger hd in the same seat on your mother board at a cheap price.

Ight coli bros I need insight, opinions, and advice abut the college life. I've been in community college for a while but I graduated last semester. I got accepted into a college recently. I'm going and planning on living on campus. I got 3 weeks really to figure everything out. I applied for financial aid and that covers half of the money issues but the rest of it I got to accept the loans they have given me. I've never had a job nor do I know how this loan shyt works. Like do I have to pay for everything at once? My family and I are just confused af how this shyt works because I am the first out my family to go away for college. Like I'm assuming I have to get a job or something right? I've been accepted I just turned in my contract to get a room. But I honestly don't know how the money part works especially since I have 0 dollars to my name. shyt rises my anxiety each day.

Guess its a good problem I guess.

Congrats on graduating and successfully getting into a 4 year.

I had to use loans for a while, through FAFSA, and if I only had to pay tuition they would have sufficed. However, housing is expensive. FAFSA would pay out after fees were due, normally, but your university will generally be prepared for such an event. They should have different payment deadlines depending on if you're getting financial aid or not. Everything WILL be due at once so be mentally prepared to see that total. That said, if you have an issue paying by the deadline contact your registrar immediately. They won't hesitate to drop classes you're registered for and give no fukks about it.

I don't know your costs or loan amounts, but a part time job won't hurt. My loan amount was divided equally by term but would barely cover tuition, so the remainder along with housing was out of pocket. Try to get as many scholarships and shyt as you can do that you aren't held hostage by loans.

living off campus is cheaper. usually they also make you get a meal plan when you live on campus. you can get a roommate and find a cheap two bedroom off campus, split rent, and not have to get that damn meal plan. that will save you a ton of money.

take as little loans as possible and yes get a part time job. if you get grants and loans they will pay for the classes before school starts then a few weeks later the remaining gets dispersed to you. ..... always keep in mind it isnt free money and will have to paid back someday.

thats why you should decline any money you dont need to pay for your school and books. working and going school can be difficult but you will be glad you did when you're done and not have a bunch of loans to pay off.

Best thing to do is contact your university. They have people who get paid to tell you how they'll take your money, so they'll have proper info for you. I personally think living on campus is good since you don't have a good excuse not to go to class. It helps build a social life if yours is lacking. It can, emphasis on can, keep you out of trouble.

Oh so I was rereeading the posts from earlier. I don't have to pay the loans like right on the spot? :ohhh: That kind of lowers my stress a little. People keep telling me the end result is all worth it. I'm just gonna start applying for scholarships nonstop now. See if there is any other programs on campus to help me out. I already got FASFA so I guess the positive side of this all is I only have to pay for half of this shyt :lolbron: Still when you got no job or job experience that shyt is scary af.
All the extra shyt to get in my family been helping with. And I feel so bad that they gotta help but yet they are so excited to help out. But like fukk this shyt exspensive. I turned in my housing contract in today and I need to put a 250 dollar downpayment down. So we need to seed if fasfa covers that or do we have to pay for it which I hope we don't I hate my family helping me out so much just so I can get a education and get out of my shyt town.:mjcry:

FAFSA loan repayment doesn't kick in until 6 months after you graduate. When you apply for graduation they'll make you do a little webinar that tells you more details about your loans. I'll highly advise your against spending your loans on unnecessary shyt. Even though it seems like it at the time, it's not free money like a grant or scholarship. Take out what you need and spend it on tuition and housing. Find books online, make friends who have them, only get them if you actually need them since some professors don't even use them.

I'll tell you now: if you have family ready and willing to help then use it. You may feel bad but that's their vote of confidence in you. That said, don't let it go to waste. Take class seriously and do what you gotta do to pass. I realize you've already made it through CC but just keep it on mind.

Oh yeah, apply for on campus jobs. They'll be easier to get and schedules are flexible. If you can apply to be housing staff, such as an RA, because you'll likely get free housing and maybe a stipend. That and you'll make good connections.

Thanks this advice is taking off so much stress you don't even know. shyt is like one giant big wtf when you are new to the experience and no one in your family knows about it or can relate because they never went. Like the idea of leaving my mom because I'm the only child got me stressed. She been crying all summer and I haven't left yet. So just imagine when I'm gone. I'll be able to make good connections somehow. I found out social skills and connections is the number 1 thing in life believe it or not. And I usually make friends easily with anyone so that should be no problem. I mean I won't spend the loans on anything stupid because my ass stays with the paranoia and anxiety 24/7 so I don't see myself spending money on shyt unless I need it to survive.
