Do you think Battleship Potemkin is a great movie today @HHR ?
I mean it's a part of history and has it's place because of things it did for movies but I can't see myself watching it again without thinking about the fact it's was a tech wonder in 1925 during the entire runtime
Also I'm kinda shocked of the lack of The Mirror and Come and See on the lists.

I do think Battleship Potemkin is still a great film, even apart from it's importance. The final 30-ish minutes, especially the Odessa Steps scene, absolutely holds up imo.

That said, I just purchased and rewatched The Rules Of The Game tonight....and wow...it's easily replacing BP on my list. I saw this many years ago, in SD on TV, and was probably only half paying attention. Seeing the Criterion blu is something else.

I thought about putting 13 on my list. The movie as a whole was OK but the tournament scene is some of the most intense scenes I have seen on film.

i dont feel like making an entire list but La Strada is my fave. so many dope metaphors & feels kinda surreal even though its a simple movie

and i like that fellini cast his wife as the 'odd looking' woman, she's one of my favorite characters

ultimately i went with 8 1/2 as my fellini pick but if i hadn't, la strada would've been my alternate

i have to emotionally prepare myself whenever i watch it though :to:
