Sure. I'm a freelance writer, doing web content, blogs, ads, anything you can think of. Not all that fun, but it pays the bills and allows me to work from home, which frees me up to write or do whatever I need.

That's EXACTLY what I'm doing. I graduated with a degree in Creative Advertising/Copywriting.

Freelancing from home right now, tryna pick up a steady line of 3-4 good paying clients so I can write TV/practice when I'm not doing stuff for them.

How did you get into freelance writing?

Honestly out of necessity. I tried getting jobs as an Advertising Creative but besides two shytty internships nothing came of it. Tried eLance but a site that size it's hard to get a foothold an gain a rep.

Found a similar but smaller site called PeoplePerHour and I've been there for about 4 months, got about 19 gigs from it ranging in size from a few hours work to a few days work.

From that site I linked up with a Director of a Digital Marketing Agency in Duabi who I create concepts and write copy for on a regular basis. He's the first of what I'm trying to build up to be regular work.

PPH is dope, MOST of the work there is web developing and graphic stuff (which I'm not strong in) but if you are, it shouldn't be difficult to start getting gigs and eatin'.

Anybody got any other ways to cake off freelancing (writing/advertising/copy)? I'm trying to do it for real so I can afford to learn to write TV without being a bum.

I remember a homie and I wrote a treatment for a Justice League flick years ago. Collaborating is frustrating when you get off page, but having someone else share ideas is the best way to go. IMO

it's crazy when you hear about some writing duos. a lot of them take segments of the script and write them, then combine them later. i could never work like that. I need a partner who is more "story" based and has good work ethic. Let me write most of the script, figure out the scenes. You help make the story perfect and pimp the shyt out of the script. This is what I need. I have alligned myself with a few like that in the past, and here I sit, still a nobody. I understand it ultimately comes down to ME and only ME, but fukk it, I need a hustler on my side.

Right right, cuz my role was mostly story and idea guy. I wasn't as smooth with the technical structuring of the script.

So I guess I was Rakim :yeshrug:

I'm big on the story thing, my brother and I are gonna go about plotting things out. He's gonna be the hustle, network and configure everything guy while I put together the actually writing, scripting and majority of plot elements. He has input on the story too, but I know he's faster to get things done and will push me if I start slacking. Partnering up has always been beneficial to me.

Well I linked up with a small production crew (only three of us). They already did music videos for local artists, a short film, and a documentary before I got on board. We are currently working on a web series and I wrote the story for the first webisode and launchpad for the rest of the series.

That sounds good my dude.

I'd love to do something like this (link up with other creative people) and provide writing and ideas for stuff they're thinking of workin' on. I was just in the running to help develop and write the story for a graphic novel by a graphic artist but I lost out on it.

I'm thinkin' of hittin' my old advertising design partner up to see if she's down on doing somethin' similar.

I got on to do video and other technical aspects, but we came up with the idea for each of us to make a story.

I really can't wait to start filming.

so i got this idea for a screenplay that i fukkin love, i think it has huge mass appeal, i have the entire story in my head, i have a shytty outline and a beat sheet all filled out as well as character profiles and tons of notes/jokes/scenes ideas... and I'm going on 2 weeks now without writing a word. the fukk? this always happens around the time I'm ready to start the outline. It's like I'm afraid to actually start writing. I need to get my shyt in check.
