That's not a completely bad thing. That's kinda what happened with me. I was sitting on this shyt for so long, never told a soul (besides brehs in this thread and my momma) that I wanted to write TV lol.

The first person that I told was the producer, who I met through a small unrelated freelance gig, and I unloaded my 6 months of thoughts on him and he was like

"This sounds awesome, you written anything?" - and I was like

"...no"

He said go write, so I did.

Now I'm sitting home ready to have my hopes dashed and finally become a real writer - bitter and jaded!

:whoa:No-one's a real writer until they get stuck into the booze. When it's a race to see what happens first: you get picked up or your liver craps out on you - then you have The Glow.

I'mma definitely let a few brehs get a look, I just wanna hear back from the suits (hopefully in the next couple of weeks).
yeah let me know. i'll give my opinion, ill be constructive if need be, but im not gonna be a dikk about it.

... oh and im not gonna steal it. but i don't think real writers care about that shyt anyway, only ams. i used to think all my shyt was so good it would get jacked, but then i started to realize no one wants my shyt that bad. Some random ass college kids shot a short of mine that i posted online though and it was god awful. i sent them a nice long email telling them how offensive their acting was, and how i woulda let them use it if they just fukkin asked.

Good info in this thread. I've been trying to write for a years now, moved out to LA and everything, but slacked off lately.

As far as breaking into TV writing.

1. Network and get a writer's assistant job. (My boy got a job a writer's assistant on Two and a Half Men a couple of years ago and now he's a writer on Suburgatory.)

How would one get this type of job?

Been reading a few scripts and I swear i know can do this. The only problem is breaking in.

I still have a long ways to go. Right now I'm reading various TV show scripts. After that I gotta learn how to use the writing program.

I hope to start actually writing in a month or a month and a half.

Also, where can I find more comedy show scripts? I've used simplyscripts to get a lot of stuff.
I got a bunch of sitcom scripts, mostly pilots, 30 Rock, Modern Family, the Office, Party Down, Entourage etc.let me know if you need any.

man, i need to get Final Draft 9, but they can lick my balls if they think I'm spending $200 for it. I have 7 and 8, all i want 9 for is the fact you can download a Workaholics template

I'd torrent it, but that shyt never works, the keygen never actually comes through and i need that to access the template downloads.

I know a reader for Universal that will throw your shyt in the trash if your cover isn't properly formatted or if the weight of the screenplay doesnt feel right.

That's just fukkin stupid. :mjlol:

No wonder these Hollywood fukkboys miss out on goldmines. :dead:

The words make the movie/show, not the formatting. :snoop:

If you don't take the time to study your craft and learn how to properly format a screenplay why should they take the time to read it?:patrice: Would you send out a resume with typos?:usure:
These guys read dozens of scripts a week and over 90% of them suck.:manny:

It's not about typos. We're talking formatting.

I mean it obviously has to be formatted like a script, but if someone doesn't read a script because the indentation is off by 4 spaces or the title is 2 lines below the usual spot then that's just :mjlol:

im not even in the business, and if you tried to get me to read something that wasn't formatted pitch perfect I'd send it back and tell you to fukk off.

it's formatted that way for a reason. try reading a screenplay in word and tell me it's not the most tedious thing you've ever read after about 5 pages. shyt, try reading a properly formatted script that is light on dialogue and has paragraphs of action and tell me it's not nearly impossible to get half way through it
