Would the first Roy Jones-Montell Griffin fight be considered a controversial decision?

no. Roy admittedly landed an illegal blow although it was unintentional. Griffin faked it. How can you prove it though? RJJ was rightfully disqualified. RJ comes out in the rematch and all doubt is erased. :blessed:

I always felt Leonard won that fight.
I respectfully disagree.

I can see why people give it to SRL, and it was a very close fight. But I think Hagler was landing the cleaner, harder, and overall more effective punches throughout the majority of the fight. What really messed him up as starting off the fight orthodox, before going into his southpaw stance. Not sure what he was thinking, but whatever he was trying didn't seem to work.

I still had him winning 7-5. At worst it was a draw IMO. I just don't think Leonard won. Might have to play the fight again tonight to see if I feel any different about it. Because it was really close

Also...

Ricky Hatton got a gift against Collazo.

And Cotto my dude, but he didn't beat Clottey IMO

I dont know if those fights were controversial. I agree that Collazo deserved the win but the KD hurt him and they wanted to give it to Hatton anyway.

I really cant give Clottey any slack because he just takes his foot off the pedal all the time. This was one of those fights. He couldve done more damage to Cotto but he is just not a good fighter when it comes to pressure. He just looks like he is coasting all the time.

I saw that fight on VHS right after it happened. I had a copy of it and enjoyed watching it over and over as a kid. I didnt know much about scoring at the time and I never thought it was controversial. I just thought SRL made Hagler look stupid at times with the flurries. Its like Ray said, his punches were louder and flashier. Marvin looked very slow to me. When he shook his head in disgust I was like I dont know why because he lost. Again, this is when I was young and SRL probably conned me. I have not watched that fight as an adult, although I have seen it a dozen times as a kid.

i got another one...very rare that a fight ends this way..a fight where both fighters were deemed unfit to continue and ends in a technical draw after 7 rounds..controversial since merqui was well ahead on all cards

merqui sosa vs prince charles williams I

the rematch was not controversial though :wow: merqui ko'd prince charles and prince charles was carried out on a stretcher

their 2 fights are my number 2 and 3 respectively on my all time favorite fights after corrales-castillo..most violent pair of fights ive ever seen at 175

"Rocky" Roman Martinez vs. Juan Carlos Burgos

Lederman had it 117-111 Burgos, aligned with one of the judges

1 judge had it a draw :dahell:

The other...............116-112 Rocky :mindblown:
